Lived at woodway for a year. The complex is well maintained, clean, and overall very nice. My gripe is with certain individuals in the leasing office, the fact that I could hear my neighbor constantly through my bathroom and my upstairs neighbors constantly through the ceiling. Trash pick up was ok, although it would be unfair to rate woodway for this due the the fact that it is contracted to a third party. My issue is that I would have much rather kept my $30 and walked my trash to the very conveniently located dumpster. This complex claims to be the cheapest in Centreville, yet raised the rent for the unit I was in almost $300 within the year that I lived there for new leasees. The pet fees are ridiculous. $600 for 2 pets, and that money does nothing, it doesn't replace carpets when you move out of anything...it's just for your pets to be there. Then, there's a $35 per month, per pet fee. If you're going to work with anyone in the leasing office, work with Tara or Syed. They're polite, knowledgeable, and professional. The same cannot be said for all individuals working within the leasing office. Also, often times when you call the leasing office, even during business hours, you're transferred to their answering service which is very un-helpful in answering day-to-day questions of residents. Understandable because they're offsite, but not very helpful for answering a quick question or concern of a resident. The maintainence team is very quick and responsive when there is a need to repair something in the apartment. However, be prepared for some random repair person to be in your apartment monthly (whether you're there and consent to it or not) to fix something. Also, know that you will be charged if they are unable to get into your unit. The complex also, encourages neighbors to tattle on neighbors, which was evidenced by their requesting of residents to contact the leasing office if a neighbor hadn't brought in their trash bin by 9 am. How can neighbors build a community if they're basically being told to go against each other? Overall, if you can find a different place, for the same money and amenities, go there instead. If you can't, woodway is Ok. Not fantastic, not great, not life-changing...just ok. Be sure to THOUROUGHLY read your leasing documents, and try your best to avoid contacting the leasing office.
Love the Community. The Maintenance staff is amazing , very quick to respond. and the office staff is amazing, always eager to help .. Amazing place to live
Its an awesome complex. To counter that 1star review, I lived on the 1st and 2nd floor, the walls and ceilings are not thin at all, and the complex is never dirty, there is a staff that picks up trash rain or shine cold weather or hot weather, so clean is an understatement. I was late on rent once and they gave me the chance to bring it in late w/o penalty. Just like any business exchange, money is supposed to be collected and fees are supposed to be billed when necessary but it is hard to please everyone, so its understandable for there to be at least 1 unhappy customer. Please come and look for yourself!! - That person is full of S**t - verification that I am not an employee .. hahaha To follow up: I have been living here for over 2 years and the staff is definitely accommodating. To be frank, Charles, the head of Maintenance is a gem, very caring and on top of anything and everything. Moustafa is definitely also a great team member, always seeming to work hard and be helpful, the whole staff is great. Ihave had issues and they have never failed on providing solutions. I am moving to MD to shorten my commute, but this place has been nothing but peace, comfort, and served its purpose as my home for the past few years.
Since I have been living here in Woodway Apartments for nearly ten years, I was asked if I could write a review. This is a forum for airing one's complaints, so here goes. The apartments are clean, modern and spacious. The kitchen and bathrooms are bright and equipped with all the modern amenities. There are also garages available on the premises in case you don't want to expose your Aston Martin to winter snow and summer heat. If you prefer to live in an old cramped dump, you won't like it here. The grounds are immaculately kept. There is a jogging trail, an outdoor workout circuit, a doggie park, basketball courts, a kiddie playground, a barbecue/picnic area, and enough space to play some serious frisbee. There is also a swimming pool and a well-equipped gym; in fact this is the best gym I've seen in any apartment and it's better than what you find in most condo/townhome complexes. There is also a projection TV room in the clubhouse, with cinema seating where you can bring your family and friends to watch the Nats lose or view your favorite DVD. If you prefer to live in a cave, you won't like it here. Members of the maintenance staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Most problems are fixed within hours of being reported. If you have a maintenance issue, you can either report it by phone or in person. But be warned that if you choose to report it in person, you risk being greeted by cheerful, smiling attendants who are too eager to keep you happy. If you prefer rude staff who ignore your complaints, this is not the place for you. It's a pleasant walk from here to Lifetime Fitness, Trader Joe's, Giant, several restaurants, and dozens of other stores. You also have convenient access to Rt 28 and Rt 66, which are traffic-free every Sunday morning at 4AM. If you prefer to live in the middle of nowhere, try another location. It gets cold in the winter. It gets hot and humid in the summer. Sometimes it rains and sometimes it snows. If you prefer to live in paradise, I recommend Hawaii. But if you must live in Northern Virginia, this is the place to be.
An excellent place to live, until it snows.
