For the year we stayed there, ants were horrible and were never taken care of by pest control. We had a water leak was fixed in the concrete foundation, but was told the carpet would be replaced, NO, it was dried with those big fans then tacked back down! Also, we were told the bathtub would be resurfaced because it was gross looking, yeah, that also NEVER happened. Had to scrub it myself! There are faaaar better places to rent than that place for sure! We should've looked longer, but we didn't know the area and was mesmerized by the amenities and fluff they projected! DON'T listen to them! It's ALL BOLOGNA!
Whisperwood is the worst apt I have ever lived in. Whisperwood will fool you before you sign the lease, but after you have signed the lease is when you get to see that it was all act for you to sign the lease. I pay for pest control ever month but they wont come out to spray unless you ask. And even when u do ask the lie and tell u someone will come out and never do. They tell this lie because most people are at wk and would have no way of knowing they didn't come. But my dad is at my house all day, every day. When I moved here one of the selling points was that you can pay your rent online. The online site for whisperwood has been down since after my first month living at whisperwood. I have now been living at whisperwood for 7 months and it's still down. I can honestly say that I hate living in whisperwood and can not wait to move. Don't move here to be lied to and be mistreated.
We went to look at this property today and we were really dissapointed. The advertised price on the site amd in apartment books are in the low to mid 600's, well when we requested info we were told they run 750 and up and a couple were 710. I asked why is there such a price discrepency and was told " we dont advertise our real prices" . That makes no sense. The rent of 750 is also the base price, NOTHING is included, the tenant pays for water, pest control, electric and gas as well as you HAVE to pay 40 dollars for WOW cable even if you dont want it. The property seemed nice from the outside but the underhanded trick to get you in with false pricing is not worth it. We disnt even bother to look at the actual apartment.
Good things about Whisperwood: 1. The apartments are nice 2. Maintenance... Sometimes gets it right. Although it usually takes them 2/3 times to fix something correctly. 3. Complex is beautiful 4. Pools are nice... Bad things about Whisperwood: 1. Prices are ridiculous for Columbus, GA. This isn't a overcrowded thriving city. I should not be paying Atlanta prices. 2. Gate code barely works. Mine doesn't work at the Milgen road entrance and my roommates doesn't work at the Flat Rock road entrance. 3. The fees are ridiculous. When we first moved in, the fee for paying rent a day late (even if you are in the hospital the previous day) was $80 for an apartment that's $875 a month. Suddenly the fee is doubled to $160+! That's ridiculous. 4. You HAVE to use WOW cable even though they are constantly going out. 5. They get you by saying rent is $875 including water and cable, BUT all that stuff is added. So really, you pay $969+ a month depending on how many showers you take. 6. THE ELECTRICITY BILLS ARE RIDICULOUS! They tell you that the light bill can be around $60 bucks a month.... Nooooooo. Our bill is average $138 a month for a two bedroom. My friends who live at Hampton Place play significantly less... Like $50 a month for power. My mother pays less and she lives in a two story house. 7. They "leasing agents" persuade you to sign the lease at 12 months but it turned out the lease was 18months. Really has been more trouble than it's worth. Honestly, save the headache and move into a house.
If I could give whisperwood apartments zero stars I would. My wife and I moved into the apartment complex in May of 2014, not even a month after moving in my car was broken into. The next month my wife's car was broken into. To make matters worse the front gate (which requires a gate key) is always either broken or left open and therefore anyone may enter the apartment complex. Unfortunately this was not the last of our worries. There was also a shooting in the apartment complex while we lived there and it took management 2 days to notify the residence! It was on the news before they even sent out and email. I thought our problems were over when we finally moved out in May of 2015, however the nightmare continued. After moving out we received a final bill of $200. Wanting to wash our hands clean of this place we sent the check to the apartments and thanked God we were done. But there is more, a few days ago I received a debt collection notice in the mail for the $200. I have the tracking number for the check, and my bank confirmed that they in fact did cash the check. Now I am getting phone calls from debt collection agencies and every time I call whisperwood to speak to the book keeper she is either off or the call goes straight to voicemail. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE. It is an absolute nightmare!
