If I could give this place no stars I would. This is the worst place I have ever lived in my entire life! horrible rude loud neighbors. You can hear EVERYTHING, full on conversations from your neighbors when you are inside! Don't be fooled by the inside of the apartments and what they show you when you come to tour these places are extremely cheaply built, and everything is constantly breaking and nothing EVER gets fixed correctly. Not to mention in the summer time your home will be infested with cockroaches no matter how much they claim to come by and spray for bugs. The playgrounds are a dirty broken dump, It's not safe to even walk to the gym at night. The roads and speed bumps are god awful too. The pools are the only simi nice thing about this hell hole, except that they are dirty and over crowded with people who don't even live here. what you pay in rent is no where near what these places are worth, so overpriced. Just because they have new management doesn't mean this place has gotten any better don't fall for the hype. This place is nicknamed whisperHOOD for a reason!!! run in the other direction and find a better place to live, which isn't that hard to find.
Awesome amenities with an even better location. Close to brand new restaurants at Lakeside Village (Starbucks!!). Easy access to the highway, so everything in Columbus is just a short drive away. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for affordable apartments in Columbus!
Do not move here! Don't waste your time or Money. Whisperwood has had 3 different management companies since I moved in 6 months ago. My car was broken into the first month I moved to WhisperHOOD. The officer told me that this common activity in the complex. If you do move in, choose an apartment that is $100 less than what you can pay. By the time they add the erroneous fees, your rent will be $100 more. One of the erroneous fees that is included is pest control. They charge for it but they never spray! This is the reason they have a serious roach problem. It will be your word against theirs when you bring this to their attention. The invoices that they send are ALWAYS wrong. You won't find out until you stand in a 30 minute line and be told that they don't accept partial payments. They also will put a note in your door advising you to pay more once they figure out their error. Paying your rent is a hassle. I've only been able to pay rent online once since staying here. Before then you could mail or pay your rent by check or Money orders in the office. The only good thing that I can say about my stay is that I have decent neighbors. My unit is very quiet, knock on wood. As soon as my lease is up, I'm out of here!
Moved here in September 2015 and the only issue I have had is paying online. The website has been down since I've moved in. Its New Years Eve, and it seems they have finally got it up and running. There is always the option of paying with check, etc. in the office. If you decide to wait until the last minute of the last day to pay, its common sense there may be wait time and possible complications. It can be avoided. I'm extremely close to the Flat Rock entrance, and I've had issues with the gate no more than 10 times since I've been here. The gate code absolutely needs fixing, but majority of the time, its residents and guests who are breaking the gate arm. I've read several reviews of residents who have had their belongings broken into, and that was my main concern moving here. After being reassured by resident(s) I know who have stayed near both Flat Rock and Milgen entrances, for years with minimal issues, did I decide to give it a try. I've also witnessed officers patrolling on several occasions. Safety concerns can happen anywhere. Shootings can happen anywhere. I've personally heard no gunshots, and I have seen no drug exchanges. These things are not uncommon and can happen ANYWHERE. The pest control rumors seem to be true. We pay a monthly fee, but I can recount them visiting my apartment once, only after I requested. A few months in, I had an issue with ants because my window would not completely shut. I put in a request with the office, maintenence came to fix the window and spray within the next two days. I have had no bug problems since. My roommate had none. I'm a senior in college with a part time job.. and a roommate.. Their prices should be expected with the ammenties offered and location alone. The listed prices are "Starting" and "From".. Read. The fees were explained while signing the lease, and are also in your copy of the contract. I skimmed page for page, and called them with any misunderstandings. The staff answered any and all questions. I have a 2 bedroom and rent has stayed below 850. Including Pest, Trash, Cable. (Fixed) Water, Sewage which are obviously based on usage. Electricity is also based on usage and payed through Georgia Power, not Whisperwood. The choice for WOW should be considered. I have had issues with it going out, but not many. There are always better options available. Investing in a house is also an option with apartment prices these days. I'm speaking from personal experience. I have only been here less than 6 months, and I'm thankful to say I have had minimal to no issues. I'm hoping it stays that way. Everyone will not have the same experience and scenarios. I am not speaking for the entire community. I've heard about the consistent change of management. With all the complaints, you would think the change would be welcomed.. Reading the reviews alone, will make you skeptical about living here. "WhisperHOOD." Break-ins. No security. Military everywhere. Loud music. Roaches. Mold. Speed Bumps? lol people are never fully satisfied. This apartment complex is pretty big, and I'm from Atlanta if that means anything. Every complaint isn't guaranteed. Your experience is what you make of it. My advice is to decide for yourself.
I love how they had to make a whole new Facebook page because of all the terrible reviews they got. Do yourself a favor and do not move here. Please do your research. We had our enclosed trailer stolen while we were out of town one weekend and both of our cars broken into. Not worth the time or the hassle. Always watching our backs and triple checking locks until we move again. There are better, safer options out there for you and your family! Also the ceiling leaked toilet water from the upstairs tenants into our master bedroom and they did a terrible job cleaning up. Did not even steam clean the carpets just merely dried them out with a diffuser. What a joke.
