Not military friendly or friendly for anyone. They completely couldn't account for 6 months of rent that was directly deposited to them. Even when it was automatically sent to them on time each month they didn't keep track of it. This resulted in late fees each month and I was very stressed of being evicted. I had to go to the rental office every month several times to print out statements saying that I paid in order to get the fees removed. I got so concerned I had to let a lawyer know just in case they'd never find the thousands I paid them. Next, expect at minimum of $100 increase in rent/fees when you go to renew your lease for the next year. When they didn't even do anything to better the property and gave me 6 months of stress: my reward is to pay them more money to stay here!
I've been a resident for a year. In the year that I've been there, there's been a change in management. They made sure to give residents plenty of notice of the changes that would occur. To me, it seemed like they were putting the same notices out everyday. Reading some of these reviews I see why. Things were mentioned upfront about the DOs and DON'Ts of the community. The one issue I've found were some of the older children in the community aren't expected to respect the property. Remember those flyers I spoke of? One was passed out on numerous occasions last summer about a section in the lease where you agree to having the children play in the allotted playground area not the common area where the benches and grilles are located. Benches were being broken what seemed like right after the maintenance people would come out to repair them when the weather got nice. I have a elementary aged child myself and yes the playground is across the street on the other side of the complex which is inconvenient if your child can't take himself/herself. But I've seen lots of parents outside with their children watching them. During the snow, they're very quick with removal on the property. Maintenance comes around and shoveled a path from my door to the sidewalk during both of the major snowstorms and the leasing office even purchased extra shovels for residents to borrow. The new management staff has been nothing but helpful. I wish we weren't moving
The shell of the complex is very nice and during the summer, it's nicely manicured. However, there are quite a few issues with this place. Not being from the VA area and not yet used to the automobile registration we thought that the state and emission inspection would give you the updated sticker on our vehicle but if course we did not double check (this is our fault) but or vehicle was towed from the lot because Arbor Park had a contract to have residence vehicles towed, even if you're a confirmed resident with an updated property parking sticker. We were told by the property that they tow vehicles because they might be abandoned. I said, even if or socket is up to date? Yes was the there answer. They sent us a picture of our vehicle with a green warning sticker on a particular date, but it's funny that we never seen the sticker even though we had driven the car a day or two after that date on the sticker from the picture. Either there is someone here that doesn't like to see green stickers on vehicles and scrapes them off or they are dealing with a shady towing contract. I also wonder how they are able to tow the vehicle because the parking spaces are not big at all. We have kids and sometimes we have to pull the car out of the space in order to get them in the car. Also, your car will 100% get scratched or dented because you have no choice but to push your door against the vehicle next to you; I've never seen anything like it. Drive around and see for yourself. The interior of the apartments look nice but they will shortly show their true colors of quality (i.e. stretched & non stained resistant carpet , poorly insulated Windows). My point is, this place does not seem to look out for its residence because I truly would have been able to pay a $16 inspection free rather than a $215 towing fee. This was an honest and expensive mistake. If you can tolerate deterioration in all aspects, with raising rent, then this is the place for you. P.S. Snow removal is almost non existent
i live in arbor park for the past 2 years, However unfortunately they have the worst management ever the first priority themselves and then residents which's should be the other way around, unfortunately unprofessional staff no knowledge nor experience whatsoever. As resident go there hoping or i should say expecting them addressing the issues they don't even have the courtesy listening to your issues or at least helping to solve it, whether by phone or in person they strict, All they do collect money 1 hour late they charge 10% out of monthly amount with no mercy . Bad experience for the 4th time . I woke up this morning leaving my apartment i look out side i couldn't find my car i walked to the office was freaking cold outside,i asked the lady at the front desk about she told me they have towed it last night i asked the reason why she said that i parked my car in visitor park which's i wasn't aware of it that residents not allowed to park in visitor parking period then another lady came out supposedly the manager saying they none to do with it nothing they could do at this point that my fault they should at least offer me some unfortunately didn't not even a ride to pick up my car . I highly recommend people to stay away from that property(Arbor Park of Alexandria) looking else where.
Like the complex, they did a serious work on this Homes and Apartments but i didn't like the management company - they can do better
