The staff has been friendly, welcoming and quick to address my concerns. I prefer the upstairs units due to the noise from my neighbors. The children need a playground but other than that this is a GREAT place to live. Parking is never an issue. I love the look and feel of the unit. The washing machine has a lot to be desired but maintenance is amazing here so IF YOU WANT A FAMILY ORIENTED PLACE (not a collage hang out place) you will be happy here.
The only reason i'm giving one star is because of the location. Honestly, the apartments themselves weren't terrible. Old "Fixer-uppers" but that's apparent from the beginning. Their clubhouse (which is, i'm sure, the only reason they're charging rent for so much) took OVER a year to finish, and they're still working on it. An entire luxury apartment complex went up next door in the time it took them to put up the bright orange netting. The real reason this place is awful - the front office. Never in my life have I had to deal with such terribly rude and petty people. We did everything online so we wouldn't have to deal with them, but upon moving out it was inevitable. There was one instance that really ticked me off. I had changed my direct deposit at work and one of the numbers was off so i was without a paycheck until the 5th of the month. I calmly explained this to the front office and even provided documentation so they didn't think i was just trying to pay rent late (mind you - they'll take rent up to the 5th without penalties anyways). They treated me like i was dirt poor and asking for a hand out. Absolutely despicable behavior, and charged me up the butt for late fees.. only time i have EVER been late to pay rent. They took us off auto-withdrawal our last month, tried to charge us for late fees, claimed we never put in our notice (good thing i saved that e-mail - they had THE WRONG E-MAIL ADDRESS UP ON THEIR WEBSITE) THEN also tried to charge us for that. Also, because of all this mix up with paying for our last month... they called our new apartment complex and claimed we refused to pay!!!!! I tried returning my keys several time the day of move out and after but they weren't in the office (how many lunches can an entire front staff take??). I mistakenly left my coffee pot in the dishwasher, called and called and called.... never got a response. It's truly like dealing with catty high school girls, not to mention... THESE are the people who are handling MY money for rent? That's an uneasy feeling. This place needs new management, and quick. RUN FAR AWAY FROM THE SYCAMORE STAFF!!!!!!!!
1. The management is incompetent to say the very least. They don't have a damn clue about organization, problem solving, or manners. I had a huge hole in my window seal, so when monsoon season hit I had a waterfall gushing over the sill. I called an emergency request to come and fix it and was told that roofs are leaking and that is a bigger priority. Nice. Even if that is the case, do you not know anything about customer service? Have the decency to give me a little fib so that I feel like I'm not last on your priority list. Then when it came time to fix it, the monsoon month had subsided and now they can't fix it because they can't see where the water is entering. HA. 2. I have never lived with cockroaches in my life, because I'm not a greasy mongrel that doesn't clean up after herself and other inhabitants. Each building is 4 units. Two on top, two on the bottom. And we've had this building bombed twice, yet we still have the creatures roaming and sharing our meals with us. We've had it sprayed dozens of times. Nothing happens except bigger roaches feeding off the poison and becoming more resistant. I find them in the dishwasher, in the tub, in the washer and dryer, coming out from the faucet. I felt a tickle on my back waking up and scratched to stop the annoyance, and there was roach legs between my fingers. My dog has been sick on multiple occasions because she eats the roaches and is exposed to the poison. 3. My toilet has overflowed twice in the past year. In the past year, not the entirety of my residency. Not for the cause of flushing girl products or giant dumps but because a part broke. I called the emergency maintenance phone number at 11 at night days ago after a friend flushed their waste and the water started to come up instead of down. AS THERE WAS FECES OVER COVERING THE BATHROOM FLOOR, I was told it was not an emergency because there were two bathrooms not just one in my apartment. Hahahahaha what... PS toilet still isn't working properly. What I mean by "properly" is that it's still inoperable. I've taken my reliefs at the gym bathroom for the past week. Thanks for making the gym 24 hours, most appreciated. 4. Speaking of the gym, the weights are stolen on a weekly basis. There's nothing much to complain about because there is literally nothing else considering there's a lack of equipment. 5. I moved here almost two years ago and the place has been "under construction" "renovating" "upgrading" whatever kind of title you want to put on it since I got here. They can't afford to finish it. That's fine, but why did you even start? 6. Haven't had a problem with people. I say hello and eat with my neighbors. And if I've had a few drinks I play football with the kids. I walk at night alone and don't have any sense of not being comfortable. Everything is absolutely terrible about this place. I'm not one to complain, but take this to heart: get it together.
tl;dr don't move here! Like the review before me I am required to rate this place from 1 to 5 stars. It has earned zero stars. I got a puppy and was harassed by the front office for doing things that they told me to do about clean up. It was due to my location on the premises that I was harassed more than others who had front of their apartment in terrible condition with trash and other furniture all over. Basically the treatment is not universally fair. They didn't have the decency to tell me I had something wrong they just took 2 weeks to write a warning and they didn't have any proof of the allegations they just assumed. The office personnel is always switching and while they last as long as a roll of toilet paper in a full house they will always hold up the same consistent incompetent behavior as their predecessors. There are a lot of maintenance issues at this place and the maintenance crew just does the minimum to cover it up. One of the doors wouldn't shut smoothly. So the crew just whacked the door frame till it would. The bathroom had mold that they just painted over. The list is endless. They delivered the move out paper a few days prior to their mandatory 60 day notice of leaving. I was out of town and when I returned I turned that in ASAP! The lady in the front confirmed that it would be the end of the month in October (technically 58 days). Roommates all signed this. I even called them a couple weeks later to confirm this and my roommate even witnessed the call (speakerphone). I go in to turn in the keys and the manager switched the day to a few days into November and never bothered to notify us. They claimed they did but they didn't. The management and office personnel is despicable and corrupt. Move somewhere else, pay more if you have to avoid this place. Save yourself the hassle and stress. You can't trust other reviews here because they are old and lack a lot of details. Plus the management has changed. PS They tried to up the rent by a few hundred dollars when renewals came around and if by month to month it would have gone up over $400!! When I moved in they raved about their new club house which was in the process. A year later and it's still in progress. Update: They have a new manager since I've talked to last time. She was rude, cold and blamed me for being out of town when they delivered the paper to fill out for a 60 day notice move out. Update 2: Its been over 2 weeks and still no returned deposit. They said they had sent it out but not to the current address that was given to them during move out. This place is terrible do not give them your service they will make your life that more stressful.
I honestly don't even want to give this place one star. It made me pick a star to just put a review. But if you are looking for a place to live and actually want to come home to, don't move here. It will be one of the biggest mistakes you'll make. Thanks.
