I love the location of The Villas. I searched and searched for a 2 bedroom apartment and fell in love with the location and my renovated apartment. I am walking distance to the beach and The Terranea Resort. I have a nice pool, sundeck, fitness center with a sauna and couldn't be happier:)
My husband and I went to look at one of these apartments - OK layout - but definitely not the best use of space, the "model" that we looked at of course had the best view, however they were unable to show us the unit we were looking to rent although it was currently unoccupied. Hmmmm...the leasing agent pressured us to put a deposit down for application and to hold the unit so that no other interested parties could step in while our application was going through. Of course she assured us that this $100 deposit was fully refundable if we changed our mind within 3 days, and that the application fee for each of us would be $35 each to submit the applications. We left the $170 deposit with them at the end of the business day and took the applications home to complete. We came back the next day to turn in the applications but on our way there, our husband and I had a talk about the property, location and the price etc. and mutually decided we didn't want to go through with renting there. We went back to the office and instead of turning in our applications (which we had already paid the fee for) we asked for our $170 deposit back. They said no problem - however this was August of 2008, and we STILL haven't received a check back from them after repeated calls. We keep getting the "check's in the mail" speech, and every time I ask to speak with management above the person on the phone, they are "unavailable". Very unprofessional and rude staff - I wouldn't normally go out of my way to say that and even post on a review site about it, but almost a year and still no return of a fully refundable deposit is ridiculous! I wouldn't reccommend this place based on that experience - but if you like an overpriced poorly built unit in a crowded complex with overgrown gardening completely off the beaten path and 10% chance of an ocean view, go for it!
I used to have a Partial Ocean View, but with all the new Construction Near By i no longer have a ocean View. They are starting to build a lot of new homes near there. So it will get busier. Management is Terrible. I had leaks coming from the Upstairs many times about 5 times. Leaks one months, then another leak another month. Problem never got fixed. Leaking has stopped because no one lives there anymore. Problem was reported but never taken care of. Called several times and nothing. Tried to have them call me to set up a time, never got a call. What can you say? I guess there too busy :( I wrote a letter to management telling them that under law that if the problem is hazard and is not taken care of in 30 days that i would have to move due to a "Non Livable Environment". Management then called and even came over the next day. Mocked me asking why it was non Livable "Being Sarcastic" I mean how would you like coming home once a month find out that water was leaking and having to clean it up. Plus when we pay $2000 a month, where is our money going. So think twice before you live there. Great View, and nice area, but it is in BFE. Try the other apartments i lived before HGHRIDGE Apartments. Great Management takes care of any problem within a few hours. and the rent is cheaper. PLus i heard that they are starting to put washers and dryers in the apts larger then a 1 bed 1 bath. GREAT LOFTS 3 swimming pools I am moving soon so i hope the next person does not get shafted with a leaking roof. IF you do decide to live here, they have too many empty apt. So ask for a discount. I got my first month for free. Thats the only good thing about this place. they are hurting for Business.
