There isn't enough space to explain why Sugar Mill is the worst apartment complex I've ever lived in. The apartment itself isn't as big as a problem as the people who run the place. I constantly had maintenance requests ignored. We usually just deal with maintenance issues on our own but when the toilet had a problem with the sewage pumps, they took over a month to fix it. We had to use the bathroom in the laundry room which was about 100m away. We paid our rent on time every month but sometimes they would try to sneak a late fee in. Once we challenge it and show receipts they remove it. There is a lack of communication between workers that usually leads to the tenants getting screwed. They held my deposit and even said I owed much more than my deposit for problems that were already there when we moved in. They told me that they would make a note. The only place they noted it was on a list of charges when I moved out. There is too much to write but take my word and do not move into this place. I wish I had a review such as this when I was apartment hunting and I could have avoided a lot of trouble. You are literally better off moving into Booker T apartments. At least you won't have management trying to cheat you and scam every dime of your hard earned money from you.
I'm in the military and just moved out of Sugar Mill after living there for 6 months. This place is a winner on all fronts. I lived in a single bedroom unit on the first floor. It was huge for the price; 1189 sf for $865 a month. The faux hardwood floors in all but the bathroom and bedroom were nice. The fixtures and kitchen were tastefully chosen, and the ceilings were higher than normal. I've never seen a place that put more effort into its landscaping. This place has well-trimmed trees, bushes, flowers, and grass all over, and workers are busy several days a week ensuring it stays beautiful. It has a large pool, cheap car wash, pond out back, tennis court, playground, weight room, and a few other amenities. I just moved to Fayetteville, NC, and the selection here is looking DISMAL by comparison. The Sugar Mill maintenance personnel and staff are friendly, helpful, and timely in their service. I never had a problem with bugs, repairs, or anything else. No place is perfect, but this is the closest I've seen. I sure am going to miss this place!
My Husband is in the military, So we move a lot.... We started out at Independents place apartments because we were unsure of the area's of Columbus, G.A. Nice place for single people, but not in the best area of town. Then we got pregnant with our little girl and wanted a bigger and nicer neighborhood. And we found Sugar Mills after looking at everyone else. And for everyone that said they are over priced I disagree. We just moved to N.C in December and the place we are paying for now is nowhere near as big as the one in Sugar Mills. The management are nice and yes they have there days just like everyone else. But they get the job done. I had a leak in our bathroom and dishwasher problems and they got right on it. We had hardwood floors, two large bedrooms, stainless steal appliances, sunroom, the living rooms are large... Ect!!! Your not going to find anywhere else nicer or larger than them. We also have and had friends that live there and they also love it!!! We paid $1045 for 2 bedrooms with the hardwood floors 1645sqft. They have cheaper ones and more costly ones. depends on what you want. Now we are waiting for our renters to move out of our house so we can move in. But until then we have been staying in 1463 sqft and paying more. I would rather be back in our old apartment. Hope this helps!!! Great for families on the move!!!
Sweet pool. Nice lake out back. Friendly neighbors.
