Up until December I had no big issues with The Thornbury. Sure, parking was awful and getting home late at all felt dangerous, but I've been lucky with that aspect. After the new management company took over, my lease was about to run out. I gave the necessary notice to say I was renewing and the first employee told me they would draft up a new lease for me to resign. Right after this, my apartment was flooded by the construction crew that is "renovating" the apartments. The property manager told me they would come by to inspect the damage and see about compensating me for what was destroyed. Nobody came by in 2 days so I went back and spoke with a different employee who told me he would have more information about my flood damage and my lease by the next day. I never received any information about this. The next week I went in and spoke to ANOTHER different employee and was told that I would need to reapply to live there because the new management company is requiring that. She also told me I would need to file a claim through renter's insurance to get my items replaced from flood damage. I'll be damned if I'm going to let my insurance premium go up because of something that is entirely the fault of the complex. Regardless, I stupidly filled out my application. A few days later I get a call from the property manager asking if I am interested in living there. I reply "Yes?". She then says "where do you currently live?". "I live there. I'm a current resident. Your employees told me to reapply for my lease". "Oh. You didn't have to do that" she says. "I'll just send you a confirmation for your lease". I never received this confirmation but I assumed it was worked out. This month I was charged month-to-month for my rent even though that is entirely wrong. I called today to ask about whether my lease is ready to be signed and was told they would send it to me for an e-signature. After an entire month and a half, I have received no compensation for my damaged property and I still can't get a straight answer about signing my lease. I don't know if it's the new management company that's caused this utter cluster of confusion, but I'm seriously fed up with the constant back and forth and promises that never get fulfilled. This place is a trap. It's overpriced for what you get and you're privileged with getting to drive on 290 on a daily basis if you actually want to go anywhere. I would urge you to live (almost) anywhere else in Houston.
I've been here for almost 3 years when I first moved to Houston I didn't have any complaints but now it's another story. The noise level is ridiculous the walls are extremely thin I had to move out of my master bedroom because of the constant slamming doors and kids yelling, the front gate is always broken. I complained about the neighbors kids writing on the siding and throwing trash in front of my garage (nothing done). There's been a huge whole in the ceiling outside when I walk out of my apartment (been there since May) still not fixed! I had to get a gym membership because the equipment there was always broken. The breeze ways need a good cleaning. I believe this place has potential but needs A LOT of work to make it look better and for the residents to feel safe....
Mold in vents. Door jam had air flow for months kept requesting repair. Management staff said parts were on back order. Manager confronted said he had the parts but nobody to install it. Maintenance seen frequently riding around on golf carts to the point there is divots in the grass but they don't have 10 minutes for 4 months to do a 5 minute fix. Dog bags have not been filled in almost 6 months leaving lots of pet waste around. Walls are thin and you can hear neighbors fighting. There is a car with flat tires parked outside where it had a tow notice stuck on it. 2 months later its still there. During the summer the pool was closed more than it was opened. Frequently get dings and scratches on my car from inconsiderate neighbors. Lots of ghetto people living here. Spend the extra money to move somewhere nicer.
Unfortunately I am still living in this godawful place, 1. horrible parking, there is NO parking spaces for anyone after 7pm. They said to us when we were signing the lease that we will be getting parking stickers that was about 7 months ago 2. gate is always broken, it's literally open and one time they were both closed and we couldn't even get out or in 3. At 3 am you will be hearing fights and arguments in the front, idk where the so called officer is that. 4. Staff is rude ( yes the new management also) 5. We pay 914 for a small one bedroom, for me it's a little to much because of all the ghettoness here For the cherry on top: We are a young couple we really don't make noise or parties but we do go out like any normal young couple would and my friends stay over sometimes. Last week my 2 girl friends stepped out into the front near the stairs for a phone call and smoke at 3 am, the gate was open so 2 masked men came up robbed there phone at gunpoint and took them into there car, thank god they dropped them off a couple blocks away, they were frightens out of there minds filled a police report in the morning I went to ask if they had caught anything in the "cameras" or if the "officer" saw anything but there are no cameras working only in the lobby and idk where the so called officer was at! Oh and they had the nerve to say it was to late for us to be outside anyway, it's my place I can be outside at 3 4 5 am, I know what my friends did wasn't safe but they were in the stair way they never thought that could happen. The last manger always sent out emails with any robberies that occur whether it be gunpoint a truck a home etc and I advised them to do so because of the holiday break and the kids to be in doors safe but of course they didn't. I have to pay 2800 to break the lease so I'm stuck here for a while.
I have so many complaints and I don't know where to start so I will just give one warning. STAY OUT. Do not get suckered into this place
