I stayed there until our lease was up which was 1 year from '09 to '10 right before they completely changed the leasing office staff. The service was atrocious, in the course of moving you don't really notice because of all the stress that comes with moving and getting everything in order but in hindsight there were allot of things that was not right. First our apartment was not prepared, carpets had stains and toilets were not cleaned, the washer and dryer was not installed and nor was the fridge after speaking with the leasing office they gave us credit for the days that we did not have the appliances. Then there were the packages, when I received a notice for a package the office was closed which wasn't a problem I would eventually pick up my package either on my way out or back, when I did the office staff told me there was no package left and asked if I had the note they left in my mailbox which I had left at the apartment, I explained this and they after going to the back and then coming out 2-3 seconds later says there is no package and I must of imagined the note, when I went to get it and show them the notice it miraculously my package was found. This may not be a deal breaker by any stretch but these are the common problems you'll find when you stay there. When we moved in we had an assigned parking space after being used to parking near our apartment we received a notice that our parking will be changed, when asked why they told us everyone in our building was going to change yet everyone else parked in the same spaces except us, I wish we could of taken it further and complained to their corporate offices, in the end I was very happy to have left Archstone Riverside, I do not know any of the past management personally and this is an honest review of our experience. Finally on our last day I decided to clean the apartment in order to get our deposit, we have a dog and we purchased a carpet cleaner during our stay we left the apartment in a better shape than when we moved in I did two complete rounds of carpet cleaning with the same machine that is used when hiring professional cleaners, other than wear and tear we left the apartment in pristine condition we even took photo's, the leasing office told us they will need a few weeks to assess the apartment and then they will notify us about the deposit, and of course they were not able to give us our deposit and the reason they gave was due to the carpet. BOTTOM LINE DO NOT EXPECT YOUR DEPOSIT BACK IF YOU HAVE PETS, their calculation for carpet is based on a 5 year depreciation so unless your there for five years or the carpet has not been replaced then you will NOT get your deposit. The previous management was probably pocketing deposits somehow and it may have been the reason they got the ax I just wished it wasn't at my expense. The only positive was the grounds were always clean and we enjoyed using the pool and tennis courts.
