I look at the reviews on here and I have to say that I agree with their middle of the road rating. As far as the location and the actual building itself goes, I have enjoyed my time here. The lake is perfect for outdoors type people or animal lovers, and it seems to be the only complex in the area with concrete floors instead of carpet or Hard wood, which was a big selling point for me. I haven't had any problems with the people who live here and feel very safe in the "las colinas bubble" With that said, I have had multiple, "oops" moments from the management. about a year into our stay here I received a notice on my door stating my rent was past due, I need to pay the late charges and rent or vacate the premises in the following days. This was a shock to be considering I have NEVER been late on a payment. After cooling off my frustrations I head to the office to find out that my money order had been accidentally thrown out. The office manager told me that I would have to request a new money order from the company I bought it through and that he would put off the charges on my account. This was a LONG process and hours on the phone, to which I got no compensation for doing. The most recent incident with the office was in regard to my dogs. The building switched management soon after I moved in and I bought a dog during the transition. I had went to office to pay my standard pet fee ($500) and fill out the paperwork. I talked to a lady in the office I had never seen before but she seemed knowledgeable and printed off the form for me. I filled it out in front of here and gave her the money order. over a year later I get a letter from the front office saying I have an undisclosed pet and would be charged a fine until I pay. Again I visit the office frustrated, only to be told they don't have any record of my dog or deposit. WTH! I bring up the fact that I have been paying the extra monthly fee since then, the manager looked it up and agrees that I have been paying exactly $15.00 over my rent for the past year and a half, but that had no weight with him or his supervisor. I am expected to pay the full deposit again!!!! A lot of my frustrations here are with customer service. The golden rule of, it's not so much what you say, as it is how you say it. This idea would help out the management immensely, and a phone call instead of a slip of paper in your door wouldn't hurt either
I've been here about 8 months. It all seemed well and fine when I moved in. Got a good deal, place looked real sharp, everyone was real nice. It took a few months for the truth to come to light. Here are just a few of the issues: 1)They stopped replacing lightbulbs (who does that?) 2) Didn't respond to service requests 3) Random entry keypads and doors to enter the buildings just don't work 4) The office staff NEVER picks up the phones. I could go on and on but you get the point....stay away there are waaaay to many places in the area for anyone to waste their time with this place.
Admittedly, I'm new but so far so good. I'm also a commuter, renting in the Irving area but living permanently in Houston. Starting this will provide subsequent updates akin to a blog in the hope that management will make some changes. I see one major issue thus far and that is garage lighting. The covered parking, which is a huge plus, is poorly lit and my wife felt unsafe when visiting. Exacerbating this fact is that the security gate leading to the garage has been broken for awhile. Relatively minor things that are fixable. On the good side, good looking, clean and conveniently located building. Haven't used the onsite gym but it's comparable to an upscale hotel's gym.
This is the most unprofessional, inconvenient, worst customer service I have ever experienced with an apartment. You will never be notified of anything until you're threatened with eviction or late fees. You will never receive any notification of mail, packages, or just notifications in general from the management, until the office is already closed the day your rent is due and you are in a race against time other wise double or even triple charged with unnecessary charges. DO NOT LIVE HERE! You may be torn because of the beautiful scenery, but don't be fooled. It is not worth it. Also, If you want to sleep well at night, avoid this place because the entire year I lived here, there was construction going on, and still is.
There are much better places to live. Where do I start? I lived at Alta for 3 years. In those 3 years there were 3 different management companies. Every time you would build a decent relationship with the managers they'd all be replaced. Did anything get fixed by any of these companies? NO. The grills never worked. The game rooms were poorly maintained. The hallways were always dirty and were missing half of the fire extinguishers. The patio furniture at the back pool is black metal. Why would you buy furniture like that in Texas? I gave my move-out notice 12 days late(they require a 60 day notice), and they charged me more than what I normally paid in an entire month for those 12 days. Do yourself a favor and find a newer place, like right next door at the Alexan.
