Very cool place! My Google app said it was closed, they have since fixed it. I'm glad we checked it out! Make sure when you plan to visit, you start at the bottom of the hill. The person there said people try to come to the top first based on the Google marker, but that is just because that is their mailing address.
The Fenelon Place Elevator is a unique experience and relic from a previous age of transportation where walking was the dominant urban transportation. The Elevator is the remaining one of two elevators to take people up and down the bluff from the urban core and commercial center of Dubuque and expanding blufftop housing. It costs a couple of bucks, but is a fun little trip up the bluff with some great views. It is a fun thing to do both from the historic nature of the elevator but also simple experience of experiencing an authentic and accessible experience.
A little expensive but worth the view.
Great view of city & fun experience with the kids
Great fun! Park below! What a great way to view Dubuque and three states at the same time!! Really a wonderful piece of history. However, park at the bottom of the elevator. Narrow streets and limited access make parking at the top very difficult, but there's lots of parking at the bottom. Also, lots of interesting locally owned shops at the bottom that are great fun, too! Just a reminder they don't take plastic, cash only!
