I stay five nights at the Affinia Manhattan hotel, the second night I was assaulted in the elevator of the hotel, I was robbed, stole my money in the elevator of the hotel's ... after this terrifying situation down to the lobby for help hotel and all in vain, did not receive help from anyone until after that I press to the police were called, after 15 minutes the police came and did nothing, able to identify the person who assault me and steal my money in the elevator, but the police stopped the assailant released ... that the hotel does not have security cameras. or elevators nor dark hallways to the rooms. after this especlucnante fact, no hotel I offer my assistance or support, management never appeared and no one answered me 45 hours had to happen for a discourteous call from the manager who told me that if I felt unsafe in the hotel, I was going to another hotel ... besides all, they hid the report that police conducted Manhattan and was not given a copy of the report. Affinia hotel is unsafe and dangerous and the hotel management acts as an accomplice to the crime.
Horrible .One of the Worst Experience to Stay at this hotel. We booked 3 rooms with an Upgraded Room with Kitchen . We booked hotel for 4 Nights ( From Dec 21,24 ) We are 3 Families travelling together with 4 Kids including 1 Infant . The Check in time was 3 PM and we reached the hotel at 7 PM but to our great surprise the room were not ready. After stying in a small queue of 5 people which took more than an Hour to clear ( shows the efficiency of the staff ) . We also made a special request at the time of booking and at also reaching at hotel as we had infant and other small kids to give us at least 1 room so that we can make them comfortable but unfortunately the front desk staff was so unfriendly and I would rather say sarcastically smiling as we have made a mistake by booking their hotel. After a long wait they gave us the key for 1 room which when we reached at room was not working at all and after 2 requests they replace the keys and again it was not working ,Such a hell of experience . Then another unfriendly staff reached there to open the door for us . after waiting for 2 hours ( around 9 PM ) We again called to remind them about another 2 bedrooms and to our great surprise they said rooms are not ready yet ( I think they didn't have staff to clean the rooms ) Think about it if they can do this with a family travelling with kids what would have happened if you are just couple or alone . After many requests and reminders they gave an another room at 10.30 and when we entered the room with kids , It was damn filthy that no person can live there and then we really were pissed off ( sorry to use this word but I think this is even less for this hotel ) . We approched the reception and requested to talk to Manager and coutsey to their so called excellent service the Manager was not there and may be doesn't want to meet guests because of the obvious reason. There is so much to write abaout this worst experience . We have decided to cancel our further stay and will be looking for an another hotel which has little courteious staff and a better service. Even the hotel facility is not good at all . Rooms and not clean and bedding is not comfortable at all .Please make sure to think 1000 times before booking this hotel . For sure I will be publishing about their services at so many different web sites so that more and more poeple are aware about it .
4 stars should be more than just "Liked it" The only reason why I couldn't give it 5 stars was because on the last morning we were there, the city was doing water main repairs and all we had running through our pipes in the bathrooms and kitchen was brown sludge. We received an upgraded 1 bedroom suite with pull out sofa and two bathrooms! It was beautiful. Comfortable beds, excellent Pillow Menu, clean bathrooms, serviceable kitchen, spacious for New York! The concierge was extremely helpful in booking us a seating at the American Girl Cafe. Valet attendants were professional and courteous and so were the bellhops that took care of our luggage in storage until we could check in. All-in-all a positive experience. We would definitely stay here again!
doorman of the hotel is a thief provided us with a car to the AIRPORT, but later we figured out he ripped us off we paid $150 as compared to $52 taxi fare. the guy is a DOUCHBAG, TAKE A REGULAR TAXI INSTEAD OF GETTING ROBBED BY THE HOTEL'S DOORMAN.
Women travelers: please read! This hotel lacks security. I had a very scary situation take place at this hotel and what was surprisingly even worse is that the hotel management didn't seem to really care -- there was never any further investigation, concern or even acknowledgement/apology of/for the situation. I stayed at the hotel on November 9, 2014. While I was heading to my room: a man had followed me to my floor and tried to block me from possibly getting help. In the elevator, I had noticed as he stood next to me that he very blatantly grabbed his crotch. As you can imagine, I felt very uncomfortable when he & I were the only people to get off the elevator on my floor. He suspiciously loitered outside the elevator banks as I started to head to my room. I followed my gut & I turned around and headed back to the elevators to go back downstairs to tell the front desk. He tried to distract me was blocking my way to get on the elevator & blocking access to the house phone. I finally got an elevator & went to the front desk and they immediately called security. The security person on duty took me up to my floor. The man was gone. Security later called me to say they had found the man and had escorted him out of the hotel. Needless to say, I didn’t sleep that night. I felt very uncomfortable in the hotel and “what could have happened“ — harassment, robbery or, worse yet, sexual assault — kept going through my mind. I checked out early the next day and told the front desk what happened. The manager on duty never even came out to talk to me and find out more about the situation! I wrote an e-mail to the hotel & also talked to the hotel manager on the phone. While they ended up finally refunding my money, they showed absolutely no concern for the incident. I have lived in NYC and travelled there more times than I can count – nothing like this has ever happened to me. But, again, what was the most upsetting is the lack of concern from hotel management and the possibility of this same incident – or even worse – happening to another woman staying at the Affinia Manhattan. The location is convenient, but it is in what I consider a seedy part of Manhattan. If you are a woman traveling alone, or even traveling with a group of women, I would NOT recommend this hotel.
