DO NOT MOVE HERE! Amerigas will take all your money during the winter. When I first moved here my bill was no more than 90 during the winter. What changed? I believe the upgrades they attempted to do to the outside of the buildings. Last year they put in all new windows in the middle of October. Well these new windows are very drafty. The blinds move when the wind blows. You feel the wind blowing through the electric socket. To go from an 90 dollar a month bill to 260 bill for one month is ridiculous. Amerigas they use for heat, hot water, cooking gas and the dryer. This year they replaced the balcony sliding glass doors also done in October or November it was a cold day. Still very drafty blinds moving when your not touching them. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment. My January bill for Amerigas this year is 193. My bill due in February is 293. Yes that's for one month. The appliances are all very old. Stove is not even self cleaning. I am not renewing my lease here. I advise anyone not to move here. My main reason for leaving is Amerigas. Management does not care that because the windows and balcony sliding glass doors were not installed properly that it is costing the residents more money in heating bills. I also read that new siding was installed and that was not done correctly either to prevent all the cold air from coming in. Dog crap is all over the place on the property. I have not had any issues with crime the 2 years I have been here. My neighbors are good people. Where I am it's pretty quiet. They always want to enter your apartment even when your not home. Or when you are and your sleep and just come in anyway and make no announcement. You wake up to strangers in your apartment.
Classic bait and switch. They won't actually let you see an apartment before renting it, only the model. Once you've signed the lease it's too late. You will have no end of maintenance problems. Do yourself a favor and AVOID this place. It's cheaper than surrounding apartment complexes for a reason.
Fox Run seemed like a good fit for me and a friend of mine for a cheap temporary place. However the cost must not go into preparing your apartment or responding to any tenants once they are in a unit. I have had a heating system that is unable to work with the thermostat installed, and thus can only be turned on and off manually. So your options at night are leave it on, and have it run all night and wake up in a very hot apartment. Or leave it off and wake up in an ice box. With the first choice my power bill has gone up drastically, and it has been almost a month and nothing has been done to fix the issue or compensate my increased power costs due to Fox Run's inability to respond. It must be too long of a walk in all the snow to keep their properties up to par. The people aren't bad most mind themselves, but the staff has been difficult to work with ever since signing the lease. Every time I do get a technician to the apartment (toilet was not working when I moved in, the first thermostat didn't work, door bell didn't work, sliding glass door would get stuck and screech when moving in, our dryer did not have the blow out vent hooked up when we moved in, we have had two outlets fail, the bathroom fan doesn't work) they have resolved every issue except the bathroom fan, in a polite and courteous manner. However, getting a technician out to the apartment is an excruciatingly difficult process and will cost you time and money. Had to use laundromat when dryer wasn't hooked up for two weeks. Time and money. Fox Run has no consideration for either in regards to it's tenants from what I have seen.
I leased from 2008 through 2010 as a previous home owner going through divorce looking to manage my costs in the recession. THE GOOD: On my street you could leave your car unlocked or door open and the neighbors are trustworthy, black white you name it. YMCA just down the road. Grocery store up the street. THE BAD: The neighborhood has teens trying to smoke dope on a central playground where you need to call security nightly if you want to get sleep. The neighborhood in the spring and summer is OVERRUN with angry hateful children. DO NOT move in near the playground. The things you will hear will disgust you and you won't get any peace. It's not children giggling and laughing, it's cursing and destruction. Kids toss swings over the set clanging the bar for as long until an angry adult comes to ask them to stop, then other teens instigate with calls of racism. Going to parents is useless. For the fleet of maintenance men they have living on premises they are slow to respond, usually a third request gets things going. Then they do things half-azzed. Nothing is every replaced, just patched. No amount of complaining will budge them. I had a draft in my door. In two years they NEVER considered changing the door jam. I got cheap solutions such as foam taped refrigerator insulation. Then they screwed in a draft guard to the outside along the door. The door sat cockeyed. It was obvious cheap engineering wouldn't EVER fix this. I resorted to nailing a blanket over the door each winter. Sad. The rest of the apartment faired no better as the spare bedroom had a horrible draft which left those inside freezing each night when their own door was closed. Next, floors are thin. If you move in, insist on an upstairs floor as we below heard every step. If you get the upstairs expect your neighbors to complain. The trash bins overflow. Neighbor children play in it making the situation worse. Kids fight and draw parents into conflicts incessantly. Cursing and racism among children is rampant. Claims of racism against whites is dominant by non-whites. Children as young as six are accused of it without knowing the word. Neighbors walk to the local ACME constantly and come back with grocery carts NEVER to return them. Meetings at apartment club meetings result in lip service. Their solution is to toss the carts in the dumpsters if the children haven't first taken them into the woods making the area a blight. By lip service I mean the apartment complex claims they call ACME to come get them but they don't. This is confirmed by speaking to the manager at ACME. ACME in turn raises the prices of food to counter the staggering loss of carts. It's an eyesore just watching low-lifes push a shopping cart like a bag lady each day. In short the neighborhood attracts large over-flowing families of cultural ill-repute, attracts drugs, etc... Teens without jobs or any other outlet resort to standing on porches for hours which in itself is not a problem but then you get drive by teens parking in the street and things degenerate from there. The pool has so many rules you can't swim in it. Not diving in makes sense, not being able to jump in... come on. I may be knit picking here but you need to know the tone of the living arrangements to really appreciate what you would put yourself through by moving here. Perhaps if you got luck and got a street with an end unit away from problems and you can overlook the scum then the proximity of the place can be an upside worth moving in for. But you are back to the poor construction and dilapidated look of the entire complex. The shrubs and grass up to the main office look great. The apartment fronts and their own shrubbery and grass are hideous. The streets are stained with who knows what to a degree that it's beyond the typical oil spots in a driveway. It just looks bad. Really bad. When we moved in, I have to admit I noticed these things some. But being here after a year it was just ugly and depressing. Every neighbor wants out.
Worst complex ever! I had to call maintenance three times for the same issue. Gas fumes were in my apartment the carbon monoxide alarm constantly was going off. The were supposed to replace the water heater never did only to find out they taped a pipe were the fumes run through that had worn out. My family could of died! They threatening you about the rent but never do their jobs. They come in your apartment for one thing do something completely different than what they said. This is the worst apartment complex I've ever lived in...they get u with the move in specials but its more money than its worth! Do not move here its a rip off.
