This apartment is under new management (formerly My Equity Apartments -Shadow Creek). Since then, there have been numerous changes, most of which have not been for the better. We had one amazing maintenance guy whom everyone loved. His work was impeccable. Now, we have five, only one of which we favor. You would think that with five times the maintenance guys, things would get repaired sooner. This is not the case. Somehow it takes longer. The maintenance staff is constantly smoking near the apartments and playing music in their golf carts early in the mornings. They park right outside our bedroom window, play music loudly, and smoke while the talk, all around 7am. The office staff is hit and miss. Whenever you make a phone call, a call center picks up, takes the information, and then sends it to the office to the front office receptionist. This is an improvement, as before, you could never get a staff member on the phone. However, depending who receives the information depends on if the issue will be addressed or not, and if so, how quickly. I've seen office staff (male receptionist) completely disregard our complaints. For this reason, I recommend following up every call by sending an email or arriving in person and requesting management. It is worth noting though, that even management does not enforce its own policies (towing of vehicles, smoking outside the premises, tailgating). Idle threats of fines are made but are never enforced. Security is a major concern. It is not a well-lit neighborhood by any means and one of the gates is frequently open, not to mention the padlock door. Anybody can get it. People tailgate all the time when someone comes through the gate. We do have a security officer, but I have called him countless times and have only received his answering machine. He has never called back. I've called the call center before to address security issues, and they just call the security officer, who never answers. There is never immediate action from the staff regarding safety, so just call the police. Noise is a major concern here. What was a nice neighborhood full of mostly employed people who enjoyed the peace and quiet has gone downhill. A fairly large portion of the residents here are unemployed. Therefore, someone is always around and they make sure their presence is known. Whether its blaring music, screaming children, barking dogs, people talking on the cell phones in the hallway, there is always noise. We have to sleep with a fan on high next to our bed just to sleep. Management also does not consider where dog owners live and frequently places them on the third floor. So, when the owners take their dogs out, they bark down the entire stairwell and all the way back up. This happens at all hours of the day and night. I understand I live in a city and noise is part of the city. Here, though, it is ridiculous. It's far from peaceful.
