Kit is a very down to earth Office Manager. We enjoy making this our temporary home. She does not talk down on people and treat everyone with respect. Deal with Vercy or Kit. Not too fond of the assistant manager.
Park Lakes could be much better. If you're a professional with options, do not be fooled by the pool and convenient gym. When I was deciding about living here, many of the online reviews had racist overtones about the employees so, I dismissed them as ignorant people. That was an error on my part. Even a racist clock is correct about the time twice each day. I'll start with the positives. The apartments are nice and the maintenance crew is fairly quick to respond to issues. The water pressure (on the ground floor) is good. There is U-verse and DirecTV available as well as other providers. The covered parking is well-lit. There are garages available (for a cost). The gym is nice...when the limited equipment is working. Washer/dryer in-unit. Blinds are light-proof providing good privacy. The Property manager and select office employees are kind and have good intentions. There is access to a pond out back where you can run/walk/sit/meditate. Now, for the problems...1) The assistant property manager is rude. He is dismissive of resident concerns and rolls his eyes if he doesn't like you. This is especially unappealing behaviour when exhibited by a man. 2) The parking is annoying. There is assigned covered parking (for an extra charge) as well as free uncovered, unassigned parking. For an unacceptably long time, people regularly parked in the fire lanes, creating both difficulty driving conditions and general conflict. Management was incredibly lax about enforcement and it took over a year to get action on this issue. 3) They will rent to ANYONE...if you care about noise or the 'kind of people' you live around, keep it moving. There is loitering outside at night on staircases, loud parties/arguments late at night and inconsiderate pet waste habits abound. 4) They are wholly unconcerned with your security. The front gates are not staffed and unauthorized drivers routinely enter through the exit. Management does nothing about this. 5) The floors are thin. No matter how considerate your upstairs neighbor is, they are certain to disturb your peace on a regular basis with simple footfalls. 6) They waste water like nobody's business. We can have torrential rain all day and the sprinklers will still come on at night. [Explanation: we can't change the timers.] 7) The rent increases every time you renew your lease without cause. Seems odd to charge more when nothing especially positive is happening at the place. Overall, it's not been pleasant but, we all make do with what we have until we can change it.
I expressed interest seeing an apartment on a Saturday afternoon when the leasing office was open and had no other potential tenants. The male employee would not show me an apartment and told me come back at a "more convenient time."
Wonderful complex! The management is organized and kind. The apartments are clean, no bugs, no mess. I stayed in 2012 when the rates were cheaper too. They have a beautiful pool and a nice grill as well as a small gym area. Printing is easy too.
Okay place to live at. Rent is high, $950, for a small one bedroom apartment, but not ridiculous. My apartment has nice features (good carpet, crown molding, walk-in closet) Staff are nice and friendly. They are constantly doing a few things to improve the property. I am 'nickel and dimed' with $45/ month of miscellaneous added expenses (sewerage, drainage, drainage again, trash, administration fee). Ironically, there's a parking issue at Park Lakes. Residents and guests are consistently parking in the Fire Lanes. Management hasn't done anything to deter or stop it. There's reserved parking available and I've put on imaginary list. Management wouldn't be able to enforce the reserved parking anyhow. There's a nice lake adjacent to the property. Unfortunately, it's seperated from the property and a locked gate. In a nutshell, No parking nor lake at the Park Lakes Apartments. Apartments are nice and the grounds are kept up. But, you'll pay for it. It's a gated community, but one can easily get in. The gates are opened long enough to drive an 18- wheeler thru with time to spare.
