Only been living here a little over 4 months and never have I witnessed such disregard for complaints. The ceiling is leaking and we've been told 3 times that it's an insulation problem so they'll get around to it. Now we have ants coming in through the bathtub and we were told to poor bleach down the drain and run hot water because "they've never seen this before". These are carpenter ants so that means they're eating wood somewhere, they don't just appear overnight. The parking situation is horrendous, they tell you to move your car every so often to make front spots fair but cars don't move ALL winter long! The hallways reek of cigarette smoke and marijuana. I'm having such a hard time finding the actual management company rather than continuing to go through Michelle and Rose because these issues are NOT being fixed!
This place needs to get they're priorities straight. The parking lot is so full of holes you special driving skills to navigate around them to keep from damaging your car. Also, no speed bumps where they are needed. They are located by sharp 90 degree turns but nothing on the long straight away where cars gain their speed. Sometimes herd to even back out people drive so fast through there. I also like the little old fire set by the plumbers careless use of a torch six months ago. Still rehabbing the building now. They just don't seem to know where to properly spend their money. I wouldn't recommend these apartments to anyone with so many better choices in the area. Too many issues to list here.
I have lived at the English Meadows Apartments for over 2 years. I was incredibly fortunate to find this place when I first moved to Milwaukee in 2011. So when I moved to Milwaukee a second time in 2014 (after having been in Texas for a year), I immediately contacted English Meadows to see if they had any units available for me to rent. The quality of this property speaks for itself. The apartments are clean, well located (right next to the shopping and dinning on S 76th St), and very affordable. The neighborhood is peaceful and particularly beautiful in the summer with the pool and courtyard area. That being said, what truly makes English Meadows stand apart are the two property managers: Michelle and Rose, and the maintenance crew. Only once have I had a small maintenance issue, which was a broken dishwasher which was replaced the same day I reported it! And I cannot say enough about how friendly and helpful Michelle and Rose have always been to me. It is with some sadness that I will be moving out of my apartment soon having just bought a house closer to work. There is not even one thing I could criticize about English Meadows, as I would give this apartment complex an A++ rating.
I have lived at English Meadows for 12+ years now. I had briefly moved out to care for a sick relative. I was able to move back in 4mo's later. I have loved it here. The Managers have been great. Helpful, happy, and personable. The buildings are clean & well maintained. There is plenty of parking, and the lots are well lit. The parking lots are plowed, and side walks are kept shoveled & salted. During times of heavy snow they keep up as best as they can. There are salt containers at every building entrance to be used by everyone coming or going. In summer the pool is a great asset. It is also well maintained, clean & heated. I have taught my grandkids to swim here. I plan on living here for as long as I can. The entire complex is well kept. No broken windows, rotted boards, junk laying around. A place I am proud to call " HOME ".
The other reviewer must work for management or is on drugs. Parking at English Meadows is ridiculous. Residents and visitors share the same parking spaces and management does not regulate the parking lot. Too many garages built and consume the much needed parking spaces so a definite shortage exists. Coming home at night after work no spaces available anywhere near your building. Complain to management and they do nothing. Snow removal is non-existent. Tenants are paid to shovel snow so if they’re not doing it, it’s not getting done. Sidewalks are so slippery no walking on them safely in winter. Of all the years living in apartments this place was the worst. Too many problems to list here. Management just doesn’t care. Trust me, you would be better off renting elsewhere.
