My Husband and I separated and I needed someplace to live that was in my price range and close to my children's school. I Understand that the process to make sure that I qualified for the low income housing takes a few weeks, but I initially signed papers in the beginning of August and I did not receive my keys until the middle of October. I also had asked each week if I can physically see an apartment, each time it was told a different excuse to why not, but one of the managers showed me pictures of her apartment. When I finally got my keys it was an entirely different floor plan than what they described, when doing the first initial walk through, she had put in a maintenance request for several items, which none of them were ever done and it's been a year. Including a strap that goes around the hot water heater, which is against code. Also during the final walk through they told me that it was going to cost me $23.00 an hour to touch up my paint and that it would take at least 4 hours, also a $95.00 cleaning fee, plus an $85.00 carpet cleaning with an additional $30.00 for heavy soiled areas. Mind you, I did sign a one year lease, I actually only stayed there for a little under 3 months since my ex- husband and I reconciled. The place looks as though it was never lived in, but going to cost me over $300 to fix it. They were also horrible at returning phone calls as well as communicating directly. When I was on vacation my power got turned off, because I forgot to pay the bill, and the apartment gave me a 3 day to quit notice, stating that I was not in compliance with my agreement. I was unaware that my power was off, or that I had a 3 day notice until I returned home to find the notice on my door as well as in my mailbox, but never once did they call my phone. Overall this was the most horrific place to live.
When i first moved in the manager Cynthia was extremely rude an over all low class. I could tell she was on pills. Her eyes were glazed over and she had a short temper and treated me and my friend with tasteless arrogance. She has since been replaced by a wonderful manager who i always receive respect and kindness from. The over all appearance of the place is good, but there is a lot you cant see by looking. I had my laundry stolen right out of the laundromat. There is constant vandalism in the middle of the night. Also there are hardly any lights in the complex which creates the perfect atmosphere for crime at night. The maintenance crew is slow and uneducated. it takes a lot of phone calls to receive help with your rental unit. the rent is relatively low but do to the loss of property and the lack of maintenance the rent should be even lower than what it already is.
Clean, well kept, great school system-
