Do not move into this property. I cannot stress this enough. It is incredibly unfortunate that such a great building in so perfect a location has to be populated by such utter trash, but that is the case here. The management is desperately trying to keep it under control, but there are simply too many loud, dirty, disrespectful residents. I moved into the building at the end of 2010 and only stayed for five months.
People left stinking garbage everywhere, urinated in the elevator, played loud music constantly, shouted and ran in the halls, slammed doors, let their kids run around unattended; the list goes on and on. I spent entire nights and weekends calling the police, but the minute they took care of one problem, another problem would start. It was a nightmare.
Before I lived at Josephs Pointe, I did not know very much about Somali people; now I know that I never want to live near them again. The Somali population in this building was incredibly loud and rude. They were probably responsible for 80% of the noise level. They propped their doors open and moved from apartment to apartment, usually around midnight, and let their kids run and scream in the halls. When I asked them to be quiet, they would act like they did not understand (despite the fact that they spoke English to me on every other occasion). It was maddening.
If noise level, well-being and all around peace of mind are not important to you, then this is a nice place to live. It has lovely river views, great floor plans, lots of ammenities and is walking distance from downtown St. Paul. I thought it sounded great and I could not find any reviews that said otherwise. I wish someone could have warned me; as it is, I feel responsible to warn others. I am in no way exaggerating when I tell you how awful my experience was. Save yourself the heartache and look elsewhere for your new home.
