Unfortunately we were told many lies just to get us into the apartment. This wasn't the only issue, though... There are constantly kids playing in the parking lot and living anywhere other than the third floor is quite annoying, as you can hear every step the neighbors above you make (maybe we just had overly loud upstairs neighbors, though). We were told many things when we moved in and they all turned out to be false, such as can we store a grill on our balcony (without the tank), can you hear the upstairs neighbors or their toilets flushing (odd, but annoying, and yes you can hear their toilets flush) and is it a quiet place. We were told that it was quiet and that we could store our grill, as well as that we could not hear the neighbors or their toilets flush (we got an odd look, but they still said no). About three weeks into our lease we were told that we had to get rid of our grill, which was clearly outlined in the lease, we just expected the office staff to not lie to us when we were asking questions.Also, quite a few of our neighbors left trash sitting out by their doors, which is also not allowed according to the lease, yet they did it anyway and sometimes it would sit for days up to a week. The apartments are also very small and the location is a nightmare. It's located on a very busy street and takes forever to get out of the complex/gas station that it is attached to. I'm also not entirely sure why they are advertised as "luxury apartments", other than the fact that maybe new = luxury. The inside of the apartment was nice, but that's about all I can say that is good about the apartment. On another note, there is a bar just on the other side of the fence in a strip mall that has a "patio" on the sidewalk and we couldn't keep our windows open when it was nice outside because people would carry on all hours of the evening and night, into early morning (2:00ish). Unfortunately we were new to the area and had limited time for apartment searching and no knowledge of how busy the location was.
Oh where do I begin? We moved here after living in a great community for 4 years about 2 hours away due to a job change. When touring the apartment we explained to management that we had a gas grill but did not have the tank in the grill - of corse they said no problem - so we moved in (from 2 hours away) and about 3 weeks into our lease we received a note stating that we had to remove the grill or face a fine. WE confronted the leasing consultant who said we were not allowed to have the grill and looked dumbfounded when we clarified that SHE told us we could have it. Our upstairs neighbors were the worst er have ever had - we could hear their children jumping as late as midnight on weeknights. One night it sounded like they were picking something up and dropping it on the floor over and over (this occurrence went on from midnight until 5am). Each time (4 times) I went to management to let them know how awful it was and how we were not able to sleep. Management simply sent the neighbors an email and accepted their response of "kids will be kids." Management mistakenly told USPS that we had moved (2 months prior to us actually moving) and he began forwarding our mail. That was a month long nightmare tracking down missing parcels and all we got was a "sorry for the inconvenience." If the weather was nice - there were many children in the parking lot and their parents would not have them move out of the way of moving cars. It was very dangerous and management wouldn't do much because the children came out after the office close. Upon moving out we had primed our walls white (we painted them a color more suited to our taste) and every other apartment I've had I simply primed and they come in to coat the wall in their specific color. Maddens told us we had to paint the walls their special color but they would provide the paint. Not even 2 days later (when we were supposed to get the paint) we got an email that we would have to pay $110 for the paint. I obviously went livid. After many emails back and forth we were forced to pay for the special "barely off white" paint to "return the walls to their original paint." I have been in 3 different apartments over the last several years and none have ever caused me this much stress. I have always left great reviews....until now. Madden's Pointe is my biggest regret since moving Columbus.
