Can't wait to get out of here! Used to be a good place to live, but Capitol Properties is so cheap that the place is falling apart. In any given week, you can expect for the water, A/C, elevators, or some combination thereof to be out of commission for an extended period. Major concerns like these only have bandages applied, while the little money they do spend goes only toward trying to trick new people into moving in... e.g., touching up paint and light fixtures. Other problems--for instance, the icy breeze that blows in the leaky windows, strong enough to rattle the blinds, all winter long--go completely unaddressed. Oh--and count on them having the audacity to expect rent rises that dramatically outpace inflation, despite the deteriorating conditions.

If you are a non-smoker, this is not the place to live. Smoke from other people's apartments also carries through vents to your apartment. While amenities are nice, sound carries easily through vents, walls, and ceilings. In brief, this apartment would be a good match for people who like the following: 1) cigarette ash in the stairwell 2) cigarettes that fall onto your balcony due to people above/around you tossing them over their balcony 3)carpets in common areas that smell of smoke 4) and second-hand smoke through the vents (vents are ducts that connect to all apartments vertically; you do not have your own air system).

old apts=cheap fixtures, peeling floor tiles, junk appliances, they refuse to repaint walls after several years. if you can want one of the nice reno'd apts, they will try all sorts of things to get you to accept an old one instead at discount. gym equip is ancient, a/c inadequate in summer, and it's full at peak hours. safety thru front door and parking garage is dodgy, they don't monitor "guests" who slip in and make sure they are expected upstairs. their car alarms constantly go off and can't be contacted because who knows where they went. neighboring buildings have a lot of elderly -it's a fact - and a lot of ambulance and fire truck traffic making it strangely noisy at night. heat/a-c is on/off for whole building, too bad if you're roasting all winter because someone else might be chilly. can smell smokers on their balconies and burnt food from down the hall through the ducts. i will say that the front door staff seem really nice, not their fault this place is not worth the cost.

I just moved there and I am so impressed with everthing: the cleaness, the service, the space, etc. I just love it.
