The customer service of the people working in the office is very good. I enjoyed Daina, Deb and Nadia quite a bit. I had no issues with maintenance and you can pay your rent online which saved me a lot of trouble since I was never home anyway as I travel for my job. My only problem with this place is that they rent to Section 8 residents. If you read other reviews, you will see that most of the issues people complain about (people leaving trash in the hallways, laundry rooms, running through the halls, "sitting" in common areas on their phones (instead of hanging out in their own unit)..) can be chalked up to the quality of the residents in the complex. Not everyone who lives at Observatory is a HUD/Section 8 user, but if you get enough of those types in an apt complex--you're bound to have problems that you wouldn't normally get from someone who actually has to work and pay for their rent on their own. Until the demand for housing in Burnsville exceeds the supply--I anticipate this will always be an issue. Still, the "renovated section" of the property (Anything in 15111, nothing else) is a NIGHT AND DAY experience from the rest of the units. These units have brand new everything whereas the decor and furnishings of the other units definitely need work.
I've lived at the observatory for a year now and it's not a bad place to live if you stay to yourself. Yes kids do run the hallways sometimes, my neighbors seem to complain a lot, I have seen cops a few times, the pool hasn't been dirty since I've lived here but yet parents do not supervise their children.. They do have a expensive pet rent which is ridiculous if I pay a deposit for my cat I shouldn't have to pay rent every month for her & a pretty steep garage fee but they do have a lot of anemities like a pool, a sauna, tanning beds, community room with cable and internet, fitness center & Jacuzzi . The property is always clean and well maintained which is nice to see plus They are also in awesome school district with the bus stop on the property. Overall I do like living here but next year if a few things don't change I will be moving but I'd definitely try to stay in the area
We didnt get to see our apartment before we moved in and it was not ready when they said it would be. The cops were there a lot and it smelled like weed in the halls. One day kids were jumping from level 2 down to level 1 and landing on the chairs. The internet didnt work so you have to have your own. Also the ladies in the office are RUDE. Def would not recommend living there.
Don't Rent here if you are an average working person looking to get ahead on bills, Water is billed same for a single person as a family, Sewer is charged, garbage is charged, bug eradication is charged= you will never have the same rent month to month. Pay more to have covered parking, get home late, see the riff raff in the parking lot. The staff likes you to believe that they are friendly and helpful raising your rent on each lease renewal (then they get a call to reference you leaving....their fangs come out.) Pool was down for the majority of 2014 summer due to the water not being drained in 2013 fall. There are MUCH better places to live in the area, don't let them fool you.
I love living here! It's way up on the hill and surrounded by trees so it's quiet like the country, but still convenient to all the restraunts and shopping. They have lots of features like the pool and fitness center. The Office staff is always available and willing to help me; even with personal things like making a copy or sending a fax. The maintenance guys get my stuff fixed quickly. The property and buildings are always clean, and we have resident parties almost every month that are actually fun. I know that there is new management and staff since the last review, so maybe this place wasn't so nice before, but it is now. I love it.
