My air conditioner AND my heater were broken the entire year that I lived there. When one worked, the other didn't. I had maintenance in and out of there close to 20 different times trying to fix them, but they would just rig it together every time. My air conditioner broke when I was 8 months pregnant, and they didn't fix it for TWO weeks. They supplied me with a "portable" one, which weighed about 100 pounds and would only work in one room at a time. My fiance is in the military, therefore was unable to help me move it, and THEREFORE I was confined to my bedroom for an entire week. And they didn't even give that to me until the 2nd week! My apartment was over 100 degrees inside, and I couldn't stay there for 8 days. Even after only using it for a week, this DOUBLED my energy bill, and I was not compensated for any of it. After my son was born (October 26th) we realized that our heater didn't work. My son was almost THREE WEEKS old when they finally fixed it. We were camped out in our living room with a space heater the entire time, even after I told them I had a baby on multiple occasions. It wasn't until I actually walked into the office to complain and they realized I had a newborn that they finally decided to do something about it. Again, my energy bill DOUBLED. They compensated me with $100 off the next month's rent, which helped but not really. And now I'm getting screwed around with over my deposit. I've left numerous messages, and not once has anybody called me back. The ONE time I did talk to somebody, they assured me that the deposit was on its way in the mail. That was two weeks ago. Still no deposit. I paid my rent early every month, I cleaned up trashed around the neighborhood WEEKLY, I followed all of the rules and I left my apartment cleaner than it was when I got there. And I have been treated with nothing but disrespect from the management and from the establishment in general. Did I mention that two people were murdered in the building across from mine, and I had to hear about it on the news? Thanks for nothing Shores, you guys suck.
They are horrible people the office staff treats tenants like crap I gave them a notice I was moving out after two full 6 month leases had been completed and they charged me another month because the office staff who had approved me lost my written notice and suddenly decided my verbal was not good enough for her. They over charge different people no one pays the same rent and yet you receive the same crappy dish washer/ refrigerator and stove. The reason they hiked their rent up by almost $100 is because they need to fund their burnt down building. The area is ghetto and anyone can walk around including the homeless and drug addicts who pose a threat to any mother needing to walk her children down the dark paths in the back building they had a peeping tom and never even let the tenants know to beware! A grown man assaulted a child in the pool and the police were never called and no it was not his child! I wouldn't recommend to anyone. They need better training and competent office workers the new blonde lady does not know what shes doing she loses documents forgets to mail them and then places the blame on the tenant not only is that unethical but she doesn't even grasp the burden she places on the families she does this too? SO ASK YOURSELF do you want to walk on eggshells with incompetent management and make sure YOU KEEP COPIES of everything because they cannot properly do their job or their computer crashes? OR go with a apartment with the same rent but with less hassle. I am sure everywhere you rent has a bad story but trust and believe the story you get from living here will top them all. PAULA IS RUDE and when i say rude i mean she tries to talk down to you and will say your entire business in front of any audience even personal information she has no right discussing. If you go with the shores guard your money order receipts type up your final notices make copies buy a gun and pepper spray take photos when you move in of everything and photos when you move out record all dates of conversations for maintenance request (maintenance is non existent) and you should be okay :)
SLUM LORDS BE CAREFUL AND BEWARE OF THE ACCOUNTING MISSING MONEY ORDERS AND DOCUMENTS WILL SEND YOU TO COLLECTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE! They Need to take more care in hiring office people always copy all documents you give them because they will not take care of your account! They do not update apartments and you end up with high energy cost for a rundown building SEX OFFENDERS ROAM AT NIGHT. The area is fully accessible to public wanderers on Broadway the night security is a joke all their good for is to tow your vehicle if parked wrong. The neighbor had their apartment flooded from the upstairs unit and no one came to change the carpet mold grew and her 2 yr old son had to live with it. VERY BAD PLACE TO LIVE. I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy!
3/30/2015 UPDATE: We moved out Feb 28th and still haven't gotten our deposit back. I have called numerous times and they keep giving me the run around. They are now telling us that we didn't give written notice that we were moving even though we put it in the drop box when the couple got murdered. They are also claiming that we owe over $600 for pet rent that was supposed to be taken care of by the owners brother Ron. I wanted to be there for the walk through but was told they don't allow that. I am about sick and tired of these ridiculous games they are playing. I have my ducks in a row so this should be interesting. We live here currently, we paid rent for November and then got an email saying that we owed money. I went into the office and they tried to say that our rent is now 615. I asked to see the lease and they couldn't produce one. The dumb blonde in the office tried telling me that we think we are better than the other residents because that is what they all pay. Huh?? Show me the paper where I agreed to 615 a month....oh that's right you cant. Then she tried to tell me that a sticky note that they have in our file is going to hold up in court, they have a paper that has white out all over it and says this is what we agreed to...ummm no. She then said that the lady who worked here wasn't very reliable and might have destroyed our lease because she messed up on the pricing. We had to buy bug spray because when we moved in there were ants EVERYWHERE! I went in to tell them and oop guess what...they gave my sticky papers to put on the floor. -_- how is that going to help with ants???? Then to top it all off there was a shooting right above us and there is still blood EVERYWHERE!!! They haven't cleaned it at all. My fiance got bronchitis from cleaning the furnace that wasn't cleaned when we moved in and carpet staples all in the floor...when we vacuumed on the first day there was dust and who knows what that came up. We have huge red stains all over the carpet and crayon on the walls...the place is a dump!!! My fiance works from home and sees people dumpster diving daily and trash left everywhere not to mention all of the gang graffiti and cars getting vandalized. The management is incompetent and the blonde is a real special one. For heaven's sake...don't move here!!!
If there was a way to give less than one star i would the monstrosities this establishment put me and my family through were endless. Not only do they lack personable and resourceful management but they also find any which way to squeeze money out of you. I went an entire year with a broken A/C unit many were breaking throughout the complex so it was a long wait before maintenance would get to me in the back building with no shade blocking my patio door. Temperatures in the Apartment reached 90 degrees + i had to remove myself as well as my two children age 2 & 4 from the home and sleep on a couch for over three weeks before any attempt to repair was made. I went 5 weeks with no working garbage disposal because this also broke down during the summer. The heating element on my Hot water tank conveniently located below the frozen A/C pipes had gone out my first month moved in It was a month before the part was swapped. The Heating element went out throughout the entire spring/summer any time the A/C was turned on because it would freeze the pipes.I electrocuted myself push starting the water heater as i was instructed by maintenance to do 30 minutes before i needed water...My Electric bill ran $198-220 a month. My 2 year old suffered a leg injury we lived in the back where it is dangerous to walk through (this neighborhood is BAD) it was pouring rain and i could not get his cast wet and parked in a parking spot apparently recently marked as a no parking zone for unauthorized vehicles and was towed away by a man in a city 45 minutes away that was unreachable and not even a licensed tower he rented a lot on Broadway and parked cars there and charged $250 to get it back! They never towed anyone else s vehicles and the drunk account did show up on my door step (she was partying underneath us) and rectify the situation. The original unit i was set to move in burned down and i was moved into a filthy apartment with holes in all the linoleum missing fixtures missing blinds and a DEAD Bird behind my refrigerator I literally had to cut part of the floor off because maintenance never came to fix it. They forgot to transfer my first months rent to the new apartment and charged me late fees upon late fees at the new one because i refused to pay them twice. They finally found it in April of 2014 my move in date Nov 18 This establishment has the most incapable staff it is really mind blowing. They allowed a 13 year old boy to be assaulted in a pool by a grown man and never even called the police just remarked they were not the baby sitters. They show you these amenities and this nice SHOW APARTMENT and move you into a outdated unlivable High energy cost apartments. Paula the "New manager" put me on speaker phone in her office when i was asking her where the charges came from on my account and tried to degrade me. They do not lease homes they are slum lords and treat tenants like peons in their monopoly game of run down units. I should only hope that someone calls the health department and gets these people shut down. SO you may also look up my complaint to the Better Business Bureau Because when my lease was finally up and i had told them several times and was told i was okay to move out my thirty days notice was accepted and i am unable to remember but i recall leaving a written notice with my key they charged me another months rent for not writing it although they verbally okay-ed me and sent it to collections without notice to me which is a violation of Fair Credit Reporting Act and claimed i did $600 worth of damages to this apartment but they lacked visual evidence of $600 worth of damages that didn't match up to the damages already there on my walk through. SO IN CONCLUSION LOOKS ARE DECEIVING DO NOT RENT HERE !
