Times Square is a New York landmark and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is a tourist visiting the city. The lights and the crowds represent a significant idea of the city so it is worth checking it out. On that note it's also noted that this is not where you will find any locals here as it is one of those places that is actively avoided due to the lights and the crowds. After spending some time here taking pictures and checking out the shops I would make my way over to the other interesting parts of the city.

Nice place to visit. Plenty of stores and restaurants to keep your interests. Not very far from other attractions. I have stayed at the Marquis and the Crowne Plaza Hotel two very good hotels. The only complaint I have is the people who dress up like characters and harass you and your kids to take pictures and the people attempting to hustle you for a Broadway show or a tour. other than that, I love Times Square.

New York is one of those places that is exactly how you imagine it. If you've ever seen any move or TV show based in NYC you've surely seen what Times Square looks like and it doesn't disappoint. This is easily the center hub of the city. You may not find any food except for highly commercialized chain restaurants but go down any side street and you'll find some sort of hidden gem. You need to experience NYC at least once in your life and this is at the top of the must see list in NYC.

If you are coming for a first 2 or 3 times, do visit times square. But Toys r us closing is bad for area specially families with kids. Costumed performers & Nude/Painted girls can be both fun and an irritant. Also it's no fun if you do not walk around seeing broadway theatres & all streets left-right of the centre of world as some call it. Security wise...rest assured, its safe despite being so crowded.
