NEVER SIGN WITH THEM! I paid my security deposit in full and completed my application at Madrone. I received several emails congratulating me on my move-in, which clearly specified my apartment unit, my parking spot, my mailbox, and move-in date. I gave my current landlord my 30-day notice. AND 12 DAYS BEFORE THE MOVE-IN, Madrone arbitrarily CANCELLED our agreement, telling us that they will be renewing the contract with the current tenants. During the process of visiting the property, submitting an application and processing the payments, they never mentioned anything about the current tenant issue. Now, I have less than 20 days to desperately find a new place to live. Also, in this process, they did not reach out to us to let us know the cancellation. For more than a week, they never picked up my calls, ignored 2 voicemails, and FB messages. After avoiding my calls for hundreds of times, only when I reached them through a different phone number, did they CASUALLY mention that they are canceling our lease. I believe that the most important thing to consider when choosing an apartment is how well the apartment is managed. Clearly, their handling of our application was very unprofessional and they were not responding well. Please be aware that this apartment's issue is not only about the Caltrain noise or the construction.
Update: I am over halfway through with my lease and this is an awful place to live. The management does nothing to resolve issues. My favorite thing I have heard is "I want to resolve this as soon as possible. I will call someone tomorrow for you" Maintenance has come into my apartment without permission a number of times. Management will never respond to emails, phone calls, or messages. Parking is atrocious and has caused several issues amongst tenants. Let's get this out of the way first. It isn't cheap. No property in the Prometheus Group is. You get what you pay for though. The amenities are great and the staff is wonderful. Everyone is so friendly. I will say that the staff isn't always responsive to my requests but they have a new building coming up so I understand that things get busy. The atmosphere is so pleasant that it makes up for it. The staff also went out of their way to make me feel welcome and to make my transition seamless. At this time construction is going on and I have noticed that the workers can block some parking spots. You will definitely have a sense of pride living in this or any Prometheus property. The location of Madrone also plays a key role. It's close to downtown Mountain View and has easy access to the 101. From what I have seen, everything is being updated in all Prometheus properties and it's so refreshing to see a complex that is up to date. I will edit this as I continue through my lease.
DO you want to live in a place where they CANCEL your application 12 days before the move in? Do you want to live in a place where you leave multiple voice mails, FB messages and consecutive days of calling, but hear nothing back? Stay away. Listen to the wisdom of those who EXPERIENCED their horrendous management.
Caltrain horns are horrible. If your windows are facing the trains it's a nightmare. New buildings are facing the road and Caltrain tracks and there is nothing in between. With closed windows and earplugs you still hear the horns starting very early in the morning.
I have been here for about 2 months now and I like it. It is pretty quiet and green. The staff is very helpful and prompt especially Amanda. There is some construction going on but i have never been affected by noise or dust etc. Walls are definitely thin therefore no loud music else it will disturb neighbors. But I have never had any problem with the noise in the night. I was initially concerned with the ratings for this apartment but once i visited the office i liked the staff and the community.
