Whole Foods
Grant S: Set across 116th Avenue from Overlake Medical Center, this grocery store will become much more popular when the LightRail station opens up nearby. One safety aspect that I loved and think other places nearby should implement is the painting of crosswalks and "walking paths" in the parking lot. They are much more visible to both motorists and pedestrians while also demanding extra precaution from drivers. This store is easily accessible as there are several crosswalks nearby and wide sidewalks.
Overlake Hospital Medical Center
Grant S: Set in a very busy section of Bellevue, Overlake Hospital is the site of a future SoundTransit station set to open in 2016. Although large volumes of cars travel on surrounding streets during all times of the day, I noticed that for the most part, accessibility and safety in this area is very strong. Sidewalks were wide, crosswalk times were adequate, and there was plenty of signage that made it easy to maneuver around and find your way.
