New Utrecht Reformed Church
Kathleen Patricia Odenthal: The New Utrecht Church is located in the #BathBeach section of Brooklyn, right off of 18th Ave, and right near the D train. The flagpole that stands in front of the church, better known as the Liberty Pole, is the oldest in the country, erected in 1783 at the end of the Revolutionary War. The pole has changed a few times since then, but the eagle and weathervane on the top remains the same.
Saint Finbars Roman Catholic Church
Kathleen Patricia Odenthal: Located in #BathBeach Brooklyn, Saint Finbars Roman Catholic Church is a popular church for Brooklyn residents and a beautiful piece of architecture. The parish was founded in 1880 to serve the Irish community in what was then the summer resort town of Bath Beach. The first church was enlarged to twice its original size in 1893 to accommodate the growing irish population. The present church was built to serve the even larger year-round Catholic population in 1910–11.
