Phil Pothen: I have twenty years of experience as an upholsterer. I was trained in France, where I am from, and worked with several antique shops and upholsterers in Paris. After living in Canada for six years, I opened my own shop here in East York, Toronto in November 2010. I work with decorators as well as with private individuals. I can re-upholster antique and modern chairs and sofas, headboards, or any other item covered with fabric.

The Greenery Patch (Florist and Nursery)
Phil Pothen: The Greenery Patch florist shop and nursery is a paradise in the city. Walk through the door and you’re overcome with the intoxicating scent of fresh flowers and plants. Look around the store, and the first things you’ll notice are the lush vibrant colours. Many of the customers we’ve served over the years, have become our friends. Every time they come in, they’re greeted with a smile and friendly conversation. That’s one of the reasons they keep returning to us for the floral needs.
Garden at the Rez Community Garden
Phil Pothen: The Garden at the Rez exists to serve the members of the community in and surrounding the Rez by providing a community experience through gardening. The garden was started in 2011 by a core team who were interested in beautifying the property and creating a community project. Due to its success and also the desire to offer the gardening experience more broadly, in 2012 the garden will expand to include 10 community plots.

Kiwanis Outdoor Pool, Toronto
Phil Pothen: Kiwanis outdoor pool is located in the Stan Wadlow Park in close proximity to the Stan Wadlow Club House, East York Arena, and East York Curling Club. Kiwanis pool features a large pool deck, male and female changerooms and a deep pool for jumping and diving. It also has a water slide open for people of all ages who complete the facility swim test.

Phil Pothen: Stan Wadlow Clubhouse offers a wide range of social, educational and support services to older adults in the community Monday to Friday 9:00am-3:00 pm. The After-school Recreational Care program runs ten months of the year from school dismissal until 6:00 pm. Permits can be booked for this facility to host social events. Offering arts programs for all ages such as watercolours, drawing & sketching, pottery, woodcarving, violin, piano, guitar, and drumming. Preschool programs include indoor soccer and pottery.
