If I had to name a favorite bar in SF it'd be Zeitgeist. Specifically, the outdoor back area where anything goes. This is the bar I miss the most now that I've moved away from SF. Photo by JeffereyTurner
SF's version of a woonerf (or living street). Several small streets have been revamped like this around Market/Octavia.
Recently rebuilt playground, soccer field, and pool look amazing. Great place to step away from the action on Valencia.
