I lived here almost a year ago. The woods are gorgeous and that's where the good points end. There are bugs and mice everywhere. You have to fight through the moths to get to your door during the summer. Wasps are everywhere. There isn't enough parking. Maintenance is a messand does half behind work while leaving surly notes behind for you. The leasing office is incompetent and the only way you ever really get results is to call the parent company and complain. They're shady. They're are hidden fees and read your lease carefully because of you move in after the first of the month, they force you to stay am extra month or pay two months rent to break your lease. The laundry Room in the building looks like a crime scene. I will never recommend this place ever.
Worst apartment ever I mean the neighbors complained on me saying I play my music to loud I'm a current tenant here and I hate when my lease is up in moving people in the leasing office always throwing some shade I would not recommend nobody to move here their are hidden fees you need to know about read your lease carefully
My father has lived in these apartments for over 40 years- He is the longest renting tenant ever. I've lived with him on and off over the years and I've seen it all. Overall I think these Apts are very nice. Yes, they're older and it would be great to see them do some remodeling BUT that also means rent will go up. I've seen many mateniance men come and go- At times we had some of the best but they're all gone now. The mateniance team sucks now. You'll wait a week or more for a simple little fix. I've also seen alot of office employees over the years as well- Some better than others but overall they're okay. Over the years mice have come and gone but nothing over the top and if you do complain they have an exterminater come immediately and spray etc.etc. I think anywhere you go can have mice and I wouldn't say it's a problem. As far as roaches go- that just depends what trash you live next too. Sorry to say it like that but they're are those neighbors who beleive it is okay to leave their trash out in the public hallways for weeks, and that will obviously attract bugs and roaches. In the different apt buildings we've lived in over these 40 years, I'd say roaches have NEVER been a problem in our Apts, but we've seen them in hallways occasionally from trash. Again, bugs really aren't a problem either. Just depends how u keep your apt...clean or dirty. I would love to see these Apts upgraded and have nicer more modern bathroom and kitchens put in BUT then your talking more rent. The property as a whole is well taken care of and cleaned daily by mateniance. As far as price goes- it's reasonable. There is nothing cheap anymore. My dad gets a nice senior discount which is great. I'd say in the 40 years being here and paying rent, it's always been very reasonable. Yes, places raise rent and that's anywhere you go usually. Thinking back over all these years I would have to give them 5 stars. It really has been a nice place to live and my dad has been fairly happy with everything. There's the occasional irritant but that's normal. Biggest complaint would definitely be the old bathroom and kitchen fixtures. I would love to see new kitchen cabinets, hardware, counters, floors and same in bathroom- new tile, sink, toliet etc. It would make all the difference in the world. Can't complain about the grounds- like I said before, they're kept beautiful! Oh, the hallways could use some TLC- very dark and dingy and not at all attractive in any manner. Peoples first impression...isn't a good one I would think. The halls are a bit yucky and bugs seem to love them for some reason. Everytime u open ur front door u have to hurry and shut it before moths, or what have you, fly in your apt. Ugh. They're things that should be and can easily be avoided If the property management put forth a little more effort to have these things fixed. In closing, yes I would recommend Rock Glen Apts. Like anywhere they have their problems but overall it's a nice place.
There are mice in certain buildings I guess especially if you are near the woods, complained about the problem and all they did was put old mouse traps down under my sink( clearly that doesn't work) if they run over my stove and counter. My lease is almost up but in order for me to stay I requested to be transferred to a front balcony apartment. One person says there's a waiting list and since my least will b e up soon I will be at the top of the list obviously thats not true because I've seen 4 front balcony apartments get cleaned and no one called and said hey we have one available. When I call its oh you're still on the list..?? smh I don't like living near the woods because too many bugs and there is rodents. Maintaince sucks! seems like there is just one person working and it takes them forever to fix something and you have to call them almost everyday to see when they are coming to fix the problem. Contemplating on biting the bullet to pay an extra $190 to do a 6month lease if I can't find a new place in time because I can't stay another whole year here.
This apartment is so ghetto and they will look for every way to drain money out of you. I lived here for 2.5 years, started with about $690 for a 1-bedroom, ended up paying about $900 for this ghetto apartment. When moving out, they charged me a notorious amount-over $300 amount for a useless carpet that needed to be changed anyways. The carpet that had already lost its texture from the years. Also, they would change all of their system without informing you. The storage was demolished and restructured without informing the tenants, I suddenly went to the storage and found that it had been locked, keys changed, all my stored items were no where to be found, probably stolen or thrown away. I called, and they just told me to come get the new key because they changed it. What in the world!!! The washing machine is ghetto, little and old, you would be better off going outside to wash your clothes. Only 2 machines and 2 dryers for 2 huge buildings. Once you wash your clothes there, it losses its color and smells very nasty. I never knew this, until I saw my friend from another building come to my building to wash clothes, saying she was given same keys. Really? 2 Building- 2 Washer and Dryers? Ridiculous They also changed their online payment system without informing tenants, when it was time to pay rent, you had to start all over again like a new tenant, calling the apt office for a useless code, adding new account, making life very uncomfortable. They are very disorganized. There is nothing interesting or good about here, they never upgrade anything, but they keep increasing their rent like crazy. Save ur money and rent a better place. I came in as a UMBC student; I am now a graduate and I felt like a lottery winner when I was moving out.
