First I would like to start off by saying that the Concierge team here are extremly friendly and amazingly nice. Max the head Concierge is always in such a good mood, smiling, and always remembers if you have a package to pick up. He truly makes your day just by seeing him smile or hearing his laugh! I'm never one to write a negative review but in this case I really had to. When we decided to move here 20 months ago our socks were blown away when we took the tour with the leasing agent. Everyone in the building seemed so happy, and every floor we went on the tenants recommended we live here because they said it was an amazing place. So after touring several properties we signed a lease with Solaire. We truly were happy here for a long time until a new management team came on board. Once the great management team and Our fantastic leasing agent who always checked up on us even months after we moved in left the entire feel of the community changed. A lot of the residents don't seem to be as happy as when we first moved in. And a community is only as happy as the management that runs it! Weve had some minor issues pertaining to our rent, and they were having a hard time getting them out on time and updating the amount owed on the websites to pay but that was no problem. When we tried contacting the managent office and leaving messages our calls were never returned. After sending an email the issue was corrected, but we never received an email apologizing or letting us know that it was taken care of. It's like the managent office doesnt care!!! And looking at some of the reviews that's a consistent theme. We had another issue with our rent and when we talked to someone in the management office we were reassured that the bill was correct and not to worry about it any further! And it also dawned on me today when I had to fax something from the office the woman that helped me mentioned it that my partner had questions and it was all taken care of and not to worry about it. Out of no where today we received an email from the assistant manager saying that our rent was past due, and to remit it to avoid legal processing. I mean what the heck? No sorry we think we made a mistake or apology or anything? Just an immediate threat to take legal action? Is this how you treat your tenants when you make a mistake, you threaten them while all we tried doing was to resolve the situation in the first place? How un- professional and rude to theaten us when you made the mistake. I've escalated this issue to corporate and will continue to do so, and I will not stop until this is resolved. I have never experienced a management team so unprofessional with no empathy , compassion or sense of humility when they made the mistake. The assistant managers tone toward my partner was sooo rude and so un apologetic that when I heard this, it made me so mad that I was shaking all day and had to contact corporate right away! I would never ever recommend anyone to ever live at the Solaire unless they re-evaluate their management team here. Kettler seems like a great company, but if they are choosing these people to represent their brand, they are going to loose so many more tenants and we've noticed there seems to be more and more apartments becoming available in the building. We started off loving this place so much, now were leaving with such a bad taste in our mouths that again we really really really don't recommend anyone living here!
The Solaire is a luxury building that offers great amenities. Kelsey and her team are personable and it is clear that they care about their residents and building. If you are looking for an apartment in the Silver Spring area be sure to check out The Solaire!
I've lived here for almost 7 months and I have no complaints. I was actually the very first person to move in to Solaire. There is some noise but it's an apartment building...you can't expect complete silence. That being said, the noise I hear is not bothersome at all. The train is right behind the building but it doesn't bother me.
I'm super picky about where I live and I can honestly say I'm happy here. The staff is so friendly and it's obvious they actually care about you. Great place to live.
I LOVE the Solaire. I have lived in a few apartments in the D.C. area and have to say that the Solaire has been my favorite by far. The proximity to Downtown Silver Spring is great. I also love that there is a grocery store right around the corner. The apartment and community amenities are outstanding and the staff is always friendly and responsive. Having the metro a few blocks away is also a huge plus! (I cannot wait until the entry way from the building to the metro opens) I would recommend the community to any person looking for a laid back yet modern style of living. I don't think I ever want to move! :-)
As many have complained, the quality of service has went noticeably bad after the turn over from Bozutto to Kettler. This place was a nice place to live, except for the complaint below, before the turn over in late 2013, so every praising review belongs to the wonderful team from Bozutto, who I assume is responsible for building this good looking building. Other than the service, I only have one complaint about this apartment, which is the noise from the railway that runs literally right next to the building. In the daytime, the noise is not so noticeable. This is a big problem because that's when you come to see the building. The problem is nighttime when the area is more quiet and when you are trying to get a good night sleep. On Fridays and Saturdays, the Metro runs up to 3 am. Around 5 am every morning, a freight train comes right through with a wonderful horn. It would be a perfect way to start your day if you are an extremely early riser (Please see "My cousin Vinny" if you haven't to get the picture). I plan to move out of this building as soon as my 1 year lease period ends (which a lot of people seems to be doing because I see people moving in and out all the time) and would not recommend to a friend, unless he is deaf.
