The Solaire is a luxury building that offers great amenities. Kelsey and her team are personable and it is clear that they care about their residents and building. If you are looking for an apartment in the Silver Spring area be sure to check out The Solaire!
As many have complained, the quality of service has went noticeably bad after the turn over from Bozutto to Kettler. This place was a nice place to live, except for the complaint below, before the turn over in late 2013, so every praising review belongs to the wonderful team from Bozutto, who I assume is responsible for building this good looking building. Other than the service, I only have one complaint about this apartment, which is the noise from the railway that runs literally right next to the building. In the daytime, the noise is not so noticeable. This is a big problem because that's when you come to see the building. The problem is nighttime when the area is more quiet and when you are trying to get a good night sleep. On Fridays and Saturdays, the Metro runs up to 3 am. Around 5 am every morning, a freight train comes right through with a wonderful horn. It would be a perfect way to start your day if you are an extremely early riser (Please see "My cousin Vinny" if you haven't to get the picture). I plan to move out of this building as soon as my 1 year lease period ends (which a lot of people seems to be doing because I see people moving in and out all the time) and would not recommend to a friend, unless he is deaf.
This used to be a great building - perfect location, if you work in DC or Silver Spring. Walking distance to all necessities, clean, fun, modern open floor plans, friendly staff & residents, pool, moovie theater, and gym on site. However, since the management chaged from Bozutto to Kettler, there have been noticable difference in service: 1) The permanent frot desk staff is still friendly and personable, but there are a lot of floating staff from other Kettler properties. The floaters don't seem to care or, and often disappear from the desk, which causes delays if you need their assistance. 2) The leasing/ management staff is not easy to get a hold of over the phone, and often have their voicemail full, and can take up to 4 days to respond to emails. I hope Kettler is able to improve their customer service and organization!
I've lived here for almost 7 months and I have no complaints. I was actually the very first person to move in to Solaire. There is some noise but it's an apartment building...you can't expect complete silence. That being said, the noise I hear is not bothersome at all. The train is right behind the building but it doesn't bother me.
I'm super picky about where I live and I can honestly say I'm happy here. The staff is so friendly and it's obvious they actually care about you. Great place to live.
I moved into the Solaire after an extensive search throughout the DC metro area. The level of service and professionalism offered the staff are unmatched compared to other buildings in the area. While the rent may be a bit high, consider the payment for peace of mind and friendly neighbors a plus. As a well constructed building, I cannot hear my neighbors (despite doing a sound test with them with my surround sound system/bass turned up- they couldn't hear a thing) and have a very responsive maintenance staff. Moving from Chicago and the wonderful neighborhoods that the Midwest provides, I wanted a sense of community and also diversity. The Solaire isn't just an apartment to me, but rather, a home away from home.
