It ain't worth it. Avana Skyway is a classic example of overpriced apartments in the Bay Area that focus more on leasing out their expensive apartments over the residents that can barely afford to live in them. A few things: (1) You pay a lot of money for the unit as is, but water/trash/office services are not included. This will bump you up another $150/month. (2) There's a gym with 1/5 functioning treadmills and 3 TVs with 1 remote that's been missing for half a year. (3) Although the landscape is nice, dog poop is covering most of all grass here. Don't let your kids play on it. (4) Mail theft is very common, it's a for sure thing during the holidays. The typical response from the office is "the post office isn't working with us on this, but we're trying" but it basically means call the post office yourself. (5) Parking is rare after 8PM, Impossible after 11PM. It's basically because the apartment units are so expensive that you have 2-4 families living in a 1 bedroom. They do a mediocre attempt to check for parking tags. The few things good about the place that makes it stand out from The Woods or any other complex in San Jose are: The main office manager (Tracy) is nice and knows how to work with residents, there are a lot of stray cats and I love cats, the maintenance people are nice, and the inside of the apartments are pretty nice. Just make sure to avoid the slightest pin hole on the walls because you're not getting your deposit back.

When I first moved in, I was told that, if I terminated my lease early, I would have to pay for the time I stayed plus one additional month, which I did when I moved out. Six months later, I received a call from a debt collection service working on behalf of Avana, saying that I still owed them several months rent. I contacted Avana, and -- EVEN THOUGH THIS CONTRADICTED WHAT I WAS TOLD WHEN MOVING IN -- paid for the remainder of my lease. Flash forward to today, two and a half years after I moved out: I'm STILL getting debt collection calls for the rent that I ALREADY PAID -- even though I wasn't initially told I'd have to pay it. Also there is not nearly enough parking, and all the near-by parking lots will tow your car if you leave it overnight. EDIT: after talking with the management, they've checked their records and confirmed that the mistake was on their end, not mine. While I am still thoroughly annoyed that it was an issue at all, I must at least say that the management was courteous and helpful in getting this straightened out.

In all honesty, this new association with Avana has sucked all the way. When it was Avalon service was much better. The office staff always pleasant and willing to help. Maintenance was on top of the repairs when I called and had a problem with the apartment. But since Avalon sold to Avana, there service sucks. I called in a repair on Saturday to have my tub and sink repaired and today is Wednesday and nothing has been done to service the issue. The amounts of dogs allowed per tenant is outrageous. My complex has 8 apartments. And from the 8 apartments 4 of them have 2-3 dogs. When you walk out of your apartment, the odor of urine and dog poo is horrendous. Just turns your stomach to the smell. It is ridiculous!!! If you are considering renting from Avana, keep on looking. After 6 years of living here, I think as soon as our lease comes up we are out.

If a negative zero was possible I would have used. The staff seems friendly only to get charge you more and not help you. No one seems to be on the same page; every time you go to the office for a question you will get 5 different answers. Tracy whom I think might be the assistant manager is not very helpful at all. She will smile but behind that smile I have felt her bias feelings and her lack of understanding and truly helping. Paying $2,800 for a one bedroom apartment you expect to receive that kind of service from everyone working there, but it is the complete opposite. Do yourself a favor and leave before you are trapped for your money. The woods which is right down the street is a much better and affordable place, and there are at least 3 other apartments nearby to look at.

I have had nothing but nice experiences here. We rent a corporate apartment here my company and the service has been wonderful. The maintenance staff is friendly and courteous and they are very tech friendly. (you can pay rent and statements via ACH directly on the portal and receive electronic billsand their are usb charging outlets) The apartments themselves (we rent a two bedroom) are spacious and have lots of closet space as well as a nice patio and large bathrooms. The pool and grounds are well maintained and it is extremely quiet. I rented this apartment after relocation and I can say the pricing is very good for the amenities you receive. The 2 bedroom is remodeled with a washer and dryer, walk in closet, quartz counter-tops, newer appliances, hardwood laminate and a separate GARAGE that comes with the apartment for no additional fee. The office ladies are always courteous and helpful. Ive dealt with Tracy, Marcelina and Heather all whom are professional and courteous. It is a very nice place to live. **Review from an Actual Tenant**
