Where do I start! So, I've only been here for about 2 1/2 months so far & I'm already ready to move. The area isn't to bad for someone like myself who is already from the area. Prior to moving here I checked the reviews & I was a bit skeptical about it at first. The reviews read that they have a roach & mice problem very bad. Upon receiving a phone call about being approved I came in & sign the paperwork to receive the keys. A few days after receiving the keys I receive a call saying my security deposit was suppose to be more then what I was told however I did not have to pay the additional because the mistake was not on my part. Since I've been here I've notice that this complex is all about their money & not necessarily pleasing their tenants. When you pay your rent you do not receive a receipt. Pets are allowed at no cost but they PROHIBIT pitbulls & threaten to have the dog put to sleep if your found with one. I keep my apartment very clean so no signs of rodents or roaches & I even placed extra steel wool in between the floor boards in which it looked as if they had already. The entire apartment has just been covered in paint to look new to the eye but you can still see the cracks, puckles, water spots & etc beyond the wall. Lets not get on the bathroom, it looks like they added tile over tile & the tub/tile has been painted over to cover up the mold. There's not screens in the windows so keep an eye on your kids & or birds. The model apartment isn't what you get necessarily this place is like a dealership, they do what they can to take your money. The buildings are trash & do not get cleaned daily like they should. Kids hang out in your building screaming, slamming doors & smoking weed. Parking is a mess and expect to go through the hassle of trying to get a parking pass for guest. The office staff with the exception of one young lady are very unprofessional. The maintenance guys, well at least the ones I've encountered were pretty honest & fixed what was broken but I've never really had to call them. Expect to have a high electric bill & I do mean $600-$800 because some apartments aren't inspected completely before tenants move in, that was my case. But on the upside of things the police do patrol the neighborhood often, there are bus stops on pretty much every corner if you don't a car, there's a shopping center right across the street, your all of 2 minutes from DC, the beltway is right there & the people in the community are pretty friendly. But here you pretty much get what you pay for & if you haven't noticed all the reviews say the same thing which means nothings changed over the years. ***11 month Update*** Its very unfortunate but throughout this year there has been at least 4 murders on my street, my condolences to those lost. Maintenance comes & works hard to do their job to the best of their ability but the company is very cheap so they won't paid to actually fix anything so maintenance patches things. Still no mice, I keep my apartment very clean. Stay up to date on your rent because one day after the 5th their accessing your late fees & will try and over charge you. The summer wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I am out of here when my lease ends.
The only perk here is the cheap rent. This is a very high crime area so you can imagine the types of things that go on around here. The leasing office is okay, they have their attitude moments sometimes. My biggest gripe is the unprofessional maintenance department. The maintenance workers do half-assed work the majority of the time. I called about my A/C not working at 10:00am and the rude lady who works in the maintenance dept said it would be fixed, I called at 1:00pm and she said it would be fixed today. I went up to the maintenance office at 4:00pm (mind you they close at 5pm) and asked would someone would be coming. She didn't bother to look up from her phone to acknowledge my presence for a few moments. She claimed that someone would be coming. Long story short she never even put my request in the first time, because I received an email work request at 4:15pm. I had to call the company that owns Park Forest and raise hell. Needless to say a few minutes later maintenance knocked on my door and gave me a portable A/C unit. When my lease is up I am gone. Absolutely gone.
Management is the WORSE! They want rent but can't send maintenance out when you call for something smh. Has a BIG mice probably, their way of fixing it is by patching up holes that they find with mice traps, very unprofessional! Wouldn't recommend anyone to live here. Wish you could make a comment without rating because there will be NO star.
I rate this place less than a half of a star. Where do I start... Well The only benefit for living here is ... the rent is cheap. but the old saying is true you get what you pay for. I would never recommend this place to my enemy. Since I have been here I have heard several gun shots at night on 2 of the occasions it made the news right across the street there was a double shooting both victims died. right down the street there was a murder tried to be covered up by the fool setting the apartment on fire. around the corner maybe a year or so ago another murder. Not a good environment for children at all. My boyfriend & I have been here too long... but thank God his lease is up and I have finally convinced him to move he will not sign it again. Were moving in July 2015. We will send a 30 day notice via certified mail due to others experiencing charges and being sued for damages and saying no notice was given. The first apartment he had had mold growing in it and a terrible mice problem. we never had roaches but spiders and ants are ridiculous. they moved us to a new apartment.. Before we got everything out and had not turned the keys in yet contractors decided the apartment was vacant and helped themselves to take items we had in the apartment. tv, stereo, lamp, tools, first aid kit, a lot of things...when moving things are a little out of place/order...who knows what else they took that we didn't get back. .They have a sewer problem here, it smelled just like the sewer day after day then all of a sudden the toilet backed up into the apartment and in the tub from other apartments feces everywhere...I had to clean this myself and bleach everything that could be. this supposedly happened due to tree branches growing into the pipes (is what we were told) (Thank God for renters insurance...cause they helped with NOTHING) my Honda accord was stolen from here as I slept, my boyfriends mustang window was busted out by the bad kids in this area who have no supervision. kids hang out all hours of the night on the play ground, in your hall ways out in front of the buildings. my other vehicle Honda civic was attempted to be stolen the out side driver side lock is now evident of that. kids found spray paint in the dumpster and spray painted the trash can area where the bricks are and the dumpster itself. my Honda civic was closest parked to the dumpster so they sprayed zig zag yellow paint on my nice black car (only had liability so insurance wont cover that) the kids around here purposely try to bust out the lights with a football but have failed due to them being too high. the kids around here are rude have no respect and don't even live in this building but constantly in the hall ways doing destructive things. The smell sometimes is awful at times due to (in my opinion) dead mice under the place...just funky. The tenants smoke crack and weed in the hallways stinking up the place. do yourself a favor save a headache and move somewhere else if you can. Worst apartment I have ever lived in. rooms are small. kitchen even smaller! THIS PLACE SUCKS. ITS THE WORST. We have never been late on our rent so we don't know too much about the office people.
i am truly dissatisfied. i cant wait until i move out. this place is terrible, not a place i would ever consider to be home. SMH. not a place for children. to many wanna be drug dealers, i cant wait for the national harbor to buy this property. then they will force all of these ghetto people out of here. would not recommend this place for a homeless person to live. they keep towing my car, and i always end up not paying, so they are setting me back for what reason.
