I hope you like hearing the phrase, "I'm sorry you feel that way. There's really nothing we can do about that."
I have lived here for 11 months now, and the entire time there has been ridiculous construction going on. Every few weeks I'll get an email letting me know that they'll becoming into my apartment, propping open my door all day (even though I have pets), and doing whatever it is they do. Several times I have come home to my door unlocked, and no note that construction workers have been in there. When I try to follow up I get, "What would you like us to do about that now other than apologize?"
City View does not view the apartment as yours, it's theirs, and you are paying a lot of money to hang out there.
I can work from home once in awhile for my job, but for the past 11 months I have been unable to because the jack hammering and construction all day long is so loud I can't call in to conference calls (or watch TV or sleep).
Moreover the dust from the construction makes it impossible to grow vegetables on your balcony (RIP tomatoes covered in some gray dust from CityView) or keep your windows open on nice days. They even told everyone they have take all furniture and possessions off the balconies for the construction. The doors to the building are propped wide open all day long and this place is in Roxbury Crossing. They frequently turn the water off during the day for the work they are doing.
Good luck seeing the value of the amenities they advertise--it took 10 months for the gym to be available (and when it finally opened, it has 3 treadmills, and 3 ellipticals, and 1 pull up station--it doesn't even have any weights, let alone weight machines. The ellipticals are really weird, too--very small stride. You'd have complete privacy down there because almost no one used the gym because it's not functional.)
And this is just the construction. There are no dishwasher disposals, my oven was full of mice and poop and they asked if I was comfortable continuing to cook on it! (They replaced it quickly to their credit), the garbase disposals close after 3pm. Even without the construction, it's just ok.
The location is nice and the apartments are in general spacious, but this has been a bad living experience. I really enjoy peace, quiet, and privacy, and this is not a place you will experience those things.
For one, the staff at the concierge desk are rude and unprofessional.I've heard them talking and laughing at 2 or 3 AM on multiple occasions and I've heard them make lewd comments towards some of the college girls in the building. One of them told me that it was my fault the fuse was blowing, even though I was just asking them to flip the switch and had not been home when the fuse blew. The trash/recycling area is constantly a mess. There are often bottles, bags, and papers flying around the area. Their system for work orders is not prompt because it is contracted out. The guy who owns the gym on the first floor is a sleezy business owner and has been called out for lying about the memberships he gives out to people he likes for free. They will charge you for anything you need to have repaired if it wasn't fixed when you first moved in. There are also rats that you can hear in the ceiling. The laundry room is extremely expensive and the free fitness center is filled with hand-me-down equipment.
