My name is Beede and I currently live/work at Domain College Park because I go to school at the University of Maryland. I also live with my parents at Belford towers and have been living there since 2006. We did not want to renew our lease at Belford towers, so we came across suburban hill on New Hampshire avenue during our search. First thing first Charlie, the manager at this property, is a first class manager and does very well when it comes to customer service. However, I was very disappointed by the way our application was handled. As I mentioned up top, I currently live in two places. Domain College Park is the most recent apartment I moved into because I work there and school is at a walking distance. However, I still live at my parents apartment and spend 3, 4 nights over a week. When we filled out an application at suburban hill, I put belford towers as my current address because I still live there and have been since 2006. Yes, I live at another place but I do not consider it as my permanent place because I use it for work and school purposes only. Few days later, my mother received an email from Charlie stating that we can no longer move into the apartment because of "intentional" discrepancies on our application and that we can not apply again. The way the email was written definitely felt like an accusation, like we were trying to cheat the their "system". We were basically called liars and there was no attempt to clear up the situation. The truth is we wanted to move there because my parents really liked Charlie and the area was close enough for me to continue staying at both places. When I called today and asked to speak with charlie, I was told he was out of the office. I said OK, I will call back then. However, the guy on the phone asked if there was anything he could assist me with? I explained the situation and said there must be a misunderstanding and we need further explanation on why our application was denied. He kept on saying, "well, unfortunately we can not accept you at our apartment". I was just upset that the office kept on accusing us and jumping to conclusion when they have not tried to understand the situation before assuming things. If you had asked me what my rating for the complex was before I filled out the application, I would have said at least a 3.5/5. However, the last couple of days have been a mess. I will continue my investigation and will likely speak to my attorney in regards to this matter. If you do move in to the place, have fun. Once again, charlie is a class guy and will take care of you.
Outstanding management, great apartments, convenient location, low cost utilities, and really reasonable rent. The residents are very responsible and nice. I love this place!
I lived in a 1 bdrm apt at Suburban Hill for the year of 2009. First and foremost, I will say that the staff is exceptional and very proactive when it comes to ensuring the safety, peace, and function of the units and building environment. The first week of my arrival, I witnessed one small roach and quickly killed it. I did not see another roach for the rest of the entire year in my room, the halls, or any of the common rooms. Everything was very clean and remains so if the tenants maintain their units well. The price for the units is hard to beat, especially considering that you receive free parking, free utilities, and now free wifi internet (most units). The tenants have always been respectfuI, composed of mostly elderly folks or families. The surrounding area is mostly latino, which is intimidating to some, but the locals are part of a hardworking community. I have never felt unsafe or observed any crimes. I am sorry that I have to move as I could see myself living here for much longer.
