I did not enjoy anything about the apartments. Out of the two years I was there. I had a roach infestation so much so that it spread to the rest of the building and four different tennants including myself left. The bugs were in the clock of the oven! The water bill was handled dumb as well. A bill based off of the collective use of water through the complex. The buildings are old. That's ok. What's not ok is that they are so old that if work needs to be done. You might get a knock on your door asking some stranger or worker to use your outlet with no compensation. The popcorn ceiling is so old that it chips away at the slightest hint of water or steam. It was by far the worst two years of my life spent.
First the good: a good price for a basic place to live, it depends where your apt is, but there seems to be enough parking in most areas, they have a pretty good fitness area, unlike a few on here, I had no roaches in my place, which is a must Now the bad: they have possibly the dumbest office staff around, I mean really stupid, I wonder if they even got out of elem school, even though the staff changes constantly, & unless you plan ahead, you will most likely get stuck with an apt near the freeway, which is right in back, you'll need to keep the windows & balcony door closed, so no sleepin with the windows open on a cool night, & you have to be aware that these jerks want 60 day notice - not 30 day, which is plenty of time, plus if you have to move & break your lease, they screw you with 2 month's fee, not 1 month like all other apt businesses, so be mindful of that before you sign up
So, you're looking for a place to live? Well, if you like roaches, loud pot smoking neighbors, gates that don't ever close in a gated community, clothes stealing neighbors, and poor apartment management, then this is the place for you! I lived there for 18 months, it took 8 months of the first year to get rid of the roaches. Called the bug people out about 3 times. Finally caulked up the gaps in the poorly constructed cabinets and other gaps. After a time, they stopped showing up. The entire time I was there there was always someone in the apartment complex that was smoking pot. The smell saturated my clothing and apartment. The employees did little more then shrug when I let them know about this illegal activity. Luckily my job doesn't do surprise drug tests, or I'm sure I would have failed. Throughout the 18 months I was there, they would shut off the water for about a day or so at a time. Perhaps that's common practice with apartments, hopefully not. Most of the time it was without notice, once or twice they did post something on the door though. If you renew your lease ASK ABOUT THE COMPLIMENTARY FLOOR CLEANING SERVICE. When I was moving out, the manager let me know about this free complimentary service, only after I was able to actually use it. She said that it was for signing up for another 6 months with them. None of the employees ever mentioned this service and when I asked the manager why, she replied that I had to ask for it. I asked her if it was written somewhere, she simply restated that it was a free service they offered. The lady that did the inspection was a ridiculously rude, despite my best attempts to make this super easy. Afterwords they billed me 200$ to replace the entire carpet in the apartment, even the still new bedroom and hallway areas. A simple cleaning would have worked for the living/dining room area, but instead of using the cleaning service they say they offer, they decided to take advantage of me and replace everything. Do not rent from this place. The manager is a scam artist and the apartment is poorly built. People are always smoking on the balconies and the doors are poorly fitted and let it smoke and cold air all the time. The whole place is made of wood, and is an extreme fire hazard. I repeat, do not rent from this place. It's not worth the trouble, it's cheap for a reason. PS: The 1 month free for 12 month isn't any different from the rates last year for about 400ish per month (1 bed/1 bath). You get no real discount. Just another way of spending the same amount while thinking you get a deal.
Normally you wouldn't count good neighbors as an item to look for when looking for an apartment, but you should. Most of those neighbors I've met are nice, concerned citizens; so when something or some people cause issues, the situation is dealt with quickly with managerial aid. The new and old gates are running. I'm a resident of 1.2yrs and have so far been quite satisfied with the cleanliness and maintainence of the grounds and my unit! I can cite a swap invasion, pygmy roaches in winter, gang violence, key card issues, and vine weeds that have all been dealt with from a few minutes to less than a week. My neighbors and I report things! I've had a couple outside friends compliment my living area as one of the best in Tulsa! So everything considered, this place is way underappreciated! That's why I plan to stay here or at least return.
