Matthew Lopez: #wheatridge I was not expecting a car show when I drove up to Wheat Ridge Lanes today. In fact the whole experience was not what I was expecting. The front of this place has an outdoor patio, and has a pub feel. You walk in the front door and you enter the bar, not the bowling alley as expected. If you want to bowl, you need to go through the side door. The bowling alley has 12 lanes, and events are posted on their website.

Matthew Lopez: #wheatridge Discovery Park is the location of Wheat Ridge's Skate Park. It has rails, ramps and pools to try your skills. I won't try my skills, but I was impressed watching others.

Matthew Lopez: #wheatridge Anderson Park has jogging and walking trails, along with a baseball field that hosts youth league, high school and semi-pro baseball. It is home to the annual Wheat Ridge Carnation Festival held each August, with food, carnival rides and fireworks.

Matthew Lopez: #wheatridge The Anderson Pool is part pool and part water park. It has a water slide and many features you would find at a water park, as well a swimming pool. It also has a sizable grass area to sunbathe of find shade on a hot day. This is a place I would definitely take my kids.

Matthew Lopez: #wheatridge Mt Olivet is a cemetery in West Wheat Ridge. Like many cemeteries it does have it famous interments. This is the Grave of H.A.W. Tabor and his Wife Baby Doe Tabor, both are well known in Colorado History. Tabor was a Silver magnet, he caused wild controversy when he divorced his wife to marry Baby Doe. The rest is Colorado Legend.

Matthew Lopez: #overland The light rail and bus transfer hub for the area. I also offers a small Park and Ride Lot. The station sits directly under the Evans Street Bridge. It's very convenient for light rail. But I do find waiting for a bus after dark kind of dicey, there is little traffic or security and only one way out of the area. Other than that, it is convenient at most other times.

Matthew Lopez: #overland I was told when I stopped by that this is the oldest golf course West of the Mississippi River. I cannot confirm that, but it does say on the sign entering the place, that it was founded in 1895. The course is mostly flat, so not a lost of strenuous hill climbs.

Matthew Lopez: #overland The shop site on the inbound side, to downtown, on Santa Fe Drive. Serves Delicious Burritos on the way to work or wherever you are headed northbound on Santa Fe Drive. Remember, they only accept cash!!!

Matthew Lopez: #overland The park sits on the east bank of the South Platte River, and was the site of one of the area's oldest settlements Montana City. An old settlers cabin sits on the site as well as other tools used to find gold. There is also a playground and picnic benches.

Matthew Lopez: #overland The ARC store on Broadway has been in the same location as far back as I remember. It's been one of my favorite places to create Halloween Costumes. Today, I got lucky and found a Rockies Jersey.

Matthew Lopez: #berkeley As I was taking this picture a woman walked by and told me "This is the best place to buy good beer". What I saw inside was one of the most expansive selection of micro-brew and craft beer I've ever seen. I have no doubt I will find a good beer in this place.

Matthew Lopez: #berkeley The Ward/Carter Dance Studio is one of the oldest businesses in the Tennyson Street Arts District. Long before the galleries and cafes, that now dot the block, the Dance Studio was where many in the neighborhood learned to dance. It survived the neighborhood decline of the 1980s, and is here for the revitalization in the 2000s.

Matthew Lopez: #berkeley The swimming pool is adjacent to the Scheitler Recreation Center. It is unique that it is an indoor/outdoor pool and is year-round. A great place to cool off on a hot Summer Day.

Matthew Lopez: #berkeley The recreation center sits on the West Side of Berkeley Park and has a Full Basketball Court, Weight Machines and Free Weights, along with community rooms. This is a favorite place for neighborhood children and families alike.
